We have a friend who just had a baby and she used the name we always wanted for a boy, we loved this name even before we had kids. I'm not sad about her using it (we haven't even really told many people about the name) but more sad because I know we are done having kids and will never get to use it. Have you ever felt bummed about a name someone else has used?

@travellingbee: Hannah was my 2nd pick for DD2 but DH said it reminds him of Hannah Montana so we went with my 1st pick since we both liked it.

We never had a name we really wanted to use but couldn't. But, we had a front runner name for the whole pregnancy and switched towards the end, so I get a tiny bit wistful or something when I hear other babies with it.

@Bao: I love the name Preston for a boy but DH is done at 2. I really want 3 but not if DH isn't on board.

Kind of. DH and I were never going to completely agree on a name so at the end I caved and gave up my first choice for his. We are not sure if we will have a second but even if we do and it's another girl I'm not sure I could ever convince him to use it. It's the name I always imagined using so I do get a little sad when I hear it.

Yes definitely. My husband and I wanted to use the name grace. We are done after this pregnancy and I am a little sad that we will never have our Gracie.

Not really because there weren't any names I was in love with before we had a LO. We got a kitten and named him our top choice boy name so we sorta got to use it

@bloved: kind of funny- we were planning on Hazel throughout this pregnant and last minute went back to Grace, which has always been one of my very favorites.

Good question! I hear a mom call her little boy by our boy name the other day at the store. It helped that he was adorable and well behaved! We are not done having kids, so it just brightened my day.

@lawbee11: We did that with our cat, got to use the boy name we wanted for a few days...took our cat to the vet...he's a she.

I get sad about names that we couldn't use because it wouldn't work with our last name. Like I love the name but it was never even an option. Names that we just didn't go with not as much because we actively chose not to use them.

We both love our boys name and I'll be a little sad if we never have a boy to use it with.

I'm sad we will never get to use our girl name (which we both really love) since we are most likely one and done.

I get sad when it's a name I would have loved to use if I could get DH on board. I'm glad to see someone else use it if it's a name I like that just didn't work (too close to another LO, doesn't go with our last name, etc).

Yes! A little! Ava and Dexter were two names I really loved and two Hello Bee mamas have these babies!!

I had Nova and Aurora on my list. My friend named her dog Aurora and my Aunt named her cat Nova after I told her it was on my list. It frustrates me a little about my Aunts cat but whatever.

I feel wistful when I hear my first pick for DD1, which DH vetoed. I would love to use it for DD2 but.... still vetoed. If anyone I knew used it, I might be sad.

I get a little sad thinking of our boy name because we are mostly likely done and will probably never have a son. It my maiden name and I love it. Maybe one of my sisters will get to use it

No, I get hopeful. When I hear Asher I am hopeful that we will have another son and I'll be able to use the name some day.
