We recently went to a destination wedding and the Bride and Groom wrote on their website no gifts because having us there was enough. Do we still send a gift? What would you do in this situation?

We had a friend fly to CA from Germany to attend ours. I told him no gifts and he listened!

I take people at their word for stuff like this. I have not had anyone specifically request no gifts. I would bring a card and that's it. Once you all get back to town you can always invite them out to dinner and make sure the waiter brings you the check.

Yes, even if it's a smaller gift! Just as a token/symbol of showing our support for them as they start their new journey together as husband and wife.
Eta: Oh, and by gifts, what I really mean is money. I always give money because I think that's what most people would rather have anyway.

I always assume that when people say no gifts they really mean "give me money".

@Mrs. High Heels: Ya we do too!
@Sapphiresun: When I see "no boxed gifts" I assume that means they want cash instead.

@sunny: I've never heard that phrase used before. I find that "there's really not anything we need", "your presence is present enough" etc. all tend to be euphemisms for preferring cash. But in your specific example, it really could just be that the couple is realizing it's expensive to attend a destination wedding, and really doesn't want you to spend further. I'd just get them a nice card and a token gift.
