My husband and I are going to be getting a second car but are undecided as to whether or not we should get a second carseat. If you have more than one car, do you have separate carseats for each car?

@aprk: Do you switch back and forth often? I'm wondering if it will be too cumbersome to switch from car to car.

nope. she doesn't go in my husband's car. one baby seat and base, and now, one convertible

We had only one infant seat but got two convertable seats. We sacrificed purchasing a super expensive seat for two cheaper seats.

Just one car seat because DH doesn't take LO in his two seat convertible. We did buy a second one earlier this week so that my FIL can take LO out and let me rest during my pregnancy.

yep, two Britax Marathons, two cars. DH is a WAHD and I'm a WOHM, we're both out and about with DS that we really couldn't take a seat in and out of our small cars over and over.

We do, but for us it was a waste. For the next child, we'll have one carseat, but two bases.

We had one infant car seat and one base. I'd just use the seat belt when putting her in my car. Her car seat stayed w/ her at daycare. Now that LO is in her convertible seats, we bought 3! One for my car, one for DH's, and one for daycare since they go out 2-3 times a week.

I just asked this question a couple weeks ago! Most people said one car seat per car: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/how-many-convertible-car-seats-one-per-car
But I do think it depends on if you and DH both do pick ups, drop offs or if you have the flexibility to only take the car with the car seat when driving LO. We opted to get two seats and I found them on NBD for about $60 less per seat!

@betsyboop: infant seat is easy to switch. I don't think we'll have any reason to have two convertibles either.

Yep-- needed it, on my wfh days i use my car with LO a lot, and when we head out together as a family we always take dh's car...
I got both of our britax advocate/pavilion on NBD for $350!!! And my friend gave us a $150 for carseat, so this was well worth it for us!

No, two cars and one car seat. Whoever has the baby has the family car. We use the other car for work only, it's a soft top Jeep Wrangler, so not the safest or most convenient car to use a car seat in.

When we had the infant car seat it was one car seat and two bases, now we have two convertible car seats because we use both cars equally so that would be such a pain to transfer a bulky car seat each time.

For the infant seats, we just bought one for each child and kept both in our minivan. We just made sure that the van stayed with the kids, which wasn't a big deal.
For the convertibles, we bought a set for each car. Dh's car is our trip car and as the kids get older we are traveling more. We decided it was worth the expense for the added convenience and safety factors of not moving the seats often. We also bought Radian seats that they will be riding in for a very long time, so that was a factor.

For the infant seat we had one carrier and two bases. Now that LO is on a convertible car seat, we have one for each car.
Its much easier to have two carseats than move carseats between two vehicles.

We only had one infant seat and one base.
When we moved DS to the convertible we only had one for the longest time. I would just use DH's car if he wanted to go somewhere when I was at work...easier to juggle the entire car than seats! We eventually got a second car seat for DH's car, but honestly he rarely has used it.

Yes, but we only have one car
We will eventually get two, I'm sure, but I think we will keep with just one carseat, since the next car we get will be the family car anyway. I'll be a SAHM, so anytime DH takes the baby anywhere, he would just take my car. If we were both doing drop offs and pick ups or something, we'd get two.

We have a convertible for each car. It's so much more convenient that way since we both do pickups and drop offs.

We currently have one infant car seat and two bases. Hubs does daycare drop off, leaves the car seat, and I do pick-up. I'm not sure what we'll do when he outgrows the infant seat...
