If you do have a playroom, where is it located? Is it upstairs or downstairs? Is it in your basement? Will it move when your kids get older and can play solo? What was the room originally intended for?
We have a play room upstairs in the loft. It's just an open room in between two bedrooms. It's good enough but I wish it was bigger!

We have a play room downstairs by the kitchen. It was originally meant to be a family room, but we switched up the layout a bit and turned the living room space into the family room. It was our clutter room for a while until we cleaned it up for LO. While I like having a play room, the kids wander around the whole 1st floor to play.

Ours would be in the basement so we choose to just have her play area in the living room. Maybe when both kids are older, a couple of years down the road we'll actually move it down!

We do have a dedicated playroom. It's attached to our living room through a big open doorway, and was referred to by the previous owners as the "sunroom". It's not really what I think of as a traditional sunroom, though it does have a lot of windows and a slider to the deck. I like where it is because of its close proximity to everything on the first floor.
Originally when we bought the house we thought we'd keep it as a playroom until the kids got older and then let them take over the basement where they could watch tv or play or video games or whatever without bothering us. But now we're thinking about moving states in a couple years, so the playroom will just stay where it is.

Ours is upstairs. I suppose it's intended purpose is an upstairs living room/loft. But it's perfect for the playroom, there's no door, but company doesn't go upstairs unless it's to play anyway, so I don't mind it being a disaster!

We have a playroom on our main floor. It was supposed to be a formal living room. But we have a huge great room and a huge bonus room, we didn't need another living room.

Nope. Apartment living here, so no room for something like that. It would be pretty amazing to be able to put all the toys in one place though!

Yes. It's huge but because it's on the 3rd floor, and my kids are too young to play in there solo, we still have toys everywhere.

@lamariniere: I'm with you. The thought of a whole room for his toys sounds like a fantasy. Of course because they'd be out of sight, but also because there's so much more I'd love to get him but can't clutter our space.
Someday we'll have a house and that will be a requirement!

We have a playroom on the main floor in the back. There is a door to close off the mess. It's great - we love having a designated space, and we had always intended for it to be used this way. We also use the room to hang out with our friends after the boys go to sleep - since we can shut the door, it keeps the noise down. I DO wish it was bigger (a lot bigger), but it works!

We have a playroom in the basement but it only gets used right now if it's raining/crappy outside. I can't bear to be down there if it's sunny. I'm sure it will get more use when LO can use it on his own. We have a toy basket in the living room that keeps everything well contained.

Yes. It is is off the living room. It technically is a bedroom but since it has french doors you can't really use it as a bedroom. Was supposed to be DH's office but then the toys took over.

Originally it was a kitchen. Our house was a triplex before we renovated.

yes, its the formal living room - next to it is a smaller den and we have the couch and TV in there - 1st floor
