I know this is a post Christmas question.
I got an ornament kit for Christmas and I'm supposed to put paint on my LO's hand and have them grab the ornament.
How am I going to do this for my 4 month olds. They are not going to keep their hands flat to do this.

I did manage to make one when C was almost 5 months old but it wasn't easy. Took a few tries for sure. Could you do their feet instead? Since they can't run away and can't curl feet up into a fist it could be easier.
I got a kit for Christmas for this baby. Since C has an ornament with her hand I do want one for this baby too, but it seems like so much effort.

A lot of times it's easier to do the feet with really little babies.

We did with DS. Instead of paint, we did one with homemade clay/play doh that you bake in the oven to harden. We did both hands and feet. Since it was "play-doh", we could re-roll and attempt a print time after time since he was 5 months old and held his hands in fists a lot still.

Yes, but we did it with salt dough so we could retry if need be. And we did it his second Christmas, so he was 19 months.

I bought clay print ornament kits as Christmas gifts for both grandmas. It was shocking how easy it was, as it turned out. DH held LO and distracted her while I grabbed her hand and spread out her fingers flat and smooshed it in, then did the same with her foot in the next ornament. Super simple, and we even had clay left over to do ornaments for our dogs' paw prints.

@PawPrints: I made pet ornaments last year with my dog's paw prints. My friend who was visiting was probably a bit traumatized at how hard I tried to get one of the dogs to cooperate. Haha! I pretty much was that crazy person who man handled my dog for an ornament.
Yeah, clay ornaments for little babies is probably so much easier than painted ornaments.

I had one of those kits and I also did salt dough ornaments. I managed to get her hands but default, do the feet. way easier

haha I tried to do this with DD this year and it was a nightmare. She was screaming and refused to open her hand. I ended up doing her foot instead since she couldn't clench it up and it worked great!

Are they heavy sleepers? you could try it while they are sleeping...
