DH is in the process of digging and building a firepit this summer for our backyard. I'm doing some research on local places that sell the fire pit kits. Should be so fun for the cooler months and making s'mores in the backyard!

Our yard is too small for a fire pit, but if I had a large backyard, I would definitely consider it. I know people who love theirs!

I had an idea to put one in where we chopped down a tree, but we've been told it's too close to the deck/house and won't pass inspection.
I really want a fully hardscaped backyard with a built in one!

We have a large mobile one that we use often in the winter, but I'd like to actually do something with our boring backyard and have a nice patio/fire pit area with a permanent fixture. We actually just had a really nice fire ring with a grill gifted to us by a company we do business with but haven't picked it up yet. It's similar to this, but they build them and had our last name cut into the side.

No. We bought one of the portable big bowl ones, but never used it so we gave it away.

@looch: bummer! For my town if it's under 3' dia, it's considered recreational and exempt from local code.

DH's mom just got us one of the metal bowl ones. She keeps asking us if we've used it. But it's either been a billion degrees out or raining...so no.

@regberadaisy: Hrmmm, I am going to have to call city hall then! I don't think we'd do much larger than that!

I don't have one but we'd love one! We may be getting one of the moveable ones so we can keep using the yard in the winter.

Yes! DH built it for me for my bday last year. He used some old concrete blocks we had from some flower beds we removed when we moved in. We love it.

@ShootingStar: love it!!! What kind of Adirondack chairs did you go with? Wood or the hard plastic?

@regberadaisy: We have the hard plastic white ones. It's funny, that second pic is actually one I took last year when we bought the house and it has the former owner's stuff. But ours look really similar.
I'm actually really glad we got the plastic ones though, not the wood ones the former owners had. For one, they were a fraction of the price - $17 vs. $100+. Also, they get bird poop on them constantly and pollen and all sorts of other stuff. It's nice being able to quickly hose them off and not worry that they're getting ruined.

@ShootingStar: We have one similar to this and love it! I like the circle one! Ours is the same but in a square shape.

@ShootingStar: I would love wooden ones but they are extremely pricey! I'm assuming not all hard plastic ones are created equal. DH sat in one at my BIL's and they groaned under his weight! He's only ~220lbs; we have family members that weigh way more than that!

@regberadaisy: Ours feel really sturdy. We've had some heavy people sit in them and I don't think there's been any problem.
These are the ones we got: http://www.amazon.com/Adams-Manufacturing-8500-48-3700-Quik-Fold%C2%AE-Table/dp/B000I4D64U/ref=sr_1_16?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1434129280&sr=1-16&keywords=adirondack+chair
You can't beat that price. They have similar/same ones at Home Depot too, but HD didn't have white ones like I wanted.

We have one of the portable bowl ones. My parents have a really nice built in one that they use a lot when the grandkids are around.

WE have a portable one but our backyard isn't set up for one. But our new house when we build will have a build in one off our patio, it's a dream of ours!

Nope. It's something that in theory I would love to have, but I live in a very dry, drought-ridden state that has one or two raging wildfires each year. Not a good idea!!

Yes, we have a portable one. We've only used it a handful of times but I love having the option!

We have a portable bowl one too! We haven't really used it since DD was born though since it gets kinda smokey!
