We don't but I kind of want one! It was on our list when we went house hunting, but wasn't a must. Growing up my parents had one in both houses I grew up in but they never used it! DH got an outside fire pit to compensate now, haha.

No, but it's a non-negotiable in our next home. Although I want an electric one, don't want to deal with a "real" one!

We have 1, but we don't love it. We live in SoCal, it's way too hot here for one.

We had an electric one (fake flames and space heater, basically) in our rental, and in our new house we have one in the kitchen! It's kind of centrally located (open floor plan, it's in the corner so it's adjacent to the dining room / play room and right next to the living room) so I can't wait to light it in the winter and hopefully save on heating bills!
There is also one in the unfinished basement.

We have a gas fireplace and although I like it for looks...it doesn't put out much heat.

We have a gas fireplace and we use it all the time in the fall/winter. We have to fill up our propane tank 2x a season we use it so much.
@HLK208: see about getting someone to check your blower/make sure your flute is closed. Your house was just built, wasn't it? Your box should still be under warranty & it should put out TONS of heat!

Yes we have a real wood burning fireplace and we love it! Very cozy and I love the look of it. We used it a ton this winter actually.
