Looks like we need a new washer UGH!!! Ours went out with a load of cloth diapers...thankfully it was during the second rinse cycle.
What type of washer do you have? Any pros/cons?

Front loaders and HE machines suck for cloth diapers. Lucky me, mine is both

I did have a front loading HE washer. We moved and I got a top loading HE washer. I never thought I would say this, but I miss my front loaders! I don't like the top loader HE for diapers. We won't be in diapers forever so I am trying to reserve actual judgement for a few years, lol.

Front and HE! But you have to be diligent about keeping the seals dry!

Top load... I've never had a font load washer. I'm under the impression that top loaded washers last longer? I think it's a little more convenient to load things from the top anyway.

Front loader for energy efficiency purposes. I've heard that top is better for CD.

@grizz: UGH!!! I know! I was all stressed & almost in tears when I told my husband...and he was like..."Ummm...ok...it's just diapers...it's just laundry." YOU DON'T GET IT! LOL.

We have a top-loader. I want a front-loader, because our laundry area sucks and it would be awesome to stack my washer/dryer.

@emg86: I can distinctly recall a time I laid on the laundry room floor with a flashlight shining into our dang frontloader, trying to gauge how much water was covering our diapers. My husband was like "Uhhhh.... are you ok down there?" haha

front loader
@evansjamie: ours are stacked & it's awesome because they take up little space!

We just got ours in Feb when we moved into our house. I let DH do the research, I just said I want a top loading. Everyone that I know that has a front loading, hates it, and clothes start to smell if they don't clean it often.

@Smurfette: What brand did you end up going with?
@grizz: HAHAHAHA! Husbands...they just don't get it sometimes.

Front HE. The only thing I don't like is that we didn't get the stands with them. I hurt my back and it is really hard to bend down and put clothes in/take them out. And you have to be really diligent with cleaning the seals.

I love our front loader, although I don't use cloth diapers. But I recommend one with a cleaning cycle so that you never have to worry about any smell/mildew issues.

We have a top loader that came with our condo. It's okay. It's your typical stacked top loader. Over the years, I've come to hate it. I can't wait to move and get something nicer.

@emg86: Pretty sure this is the washer

We have an ancient top loader. I hate the machine itself and am just biding my time until it dies, but I will definitely be getting another top loader (HE though). I don't like front loaders at all -- bending over to get clothes in and out, trying to keep the seals in good shape, not being able to felt knitted items, all of it drives me nuts. I don't even like front-loading dryers because I find it annoying to load and unload them, I'm a very lazy laundry doer, haha.

@Smurfette: That's the one I was thinking of getting. Awesome.
@PurplePeony: LOL, I don't mind the front load dryer but the more I thought about a front load washer & cloth diapers, the more I realized that was a terrible combination...last thing I need is poop on my floors.

I've had a front loader for 3.5 years and I've never had much problems with it. It does get a little musty sometimes. To mitigate that we leave the door open until it dries after we're done washing, and if that's not enough we use Tide washing machine cleaner. Then no more smell. We never have a problem with clothes smelling.
In our case, we have to have stacking, so front loading was the only option. Personally, I like it better than leaning over to get laundry in and out of top loaders.

Front loaders start to smell reeeeally easily. I hated the one we had in our last place.

Front loader, HE. The only negative I have is that you have to make sure you keep the door open to air/dry out.
