I wish we could get one but the tower would put my LOs too close to the stove! We need more counter space!

I've never seen this before! Is it so they can help in the kitchen? Or get stuff for themselves?

I really want one!! DS wants to be with us whenever we're doing anything in the kitchen and he is heavy! I know that he just wants to see though because as soon as we're holding him he's perfectly happy.

I've been asking DH to build one for the past couple of months. He has never built any piece of furniture before, but there is always time for a first.

I thought about buying one, but DD does really well just standing on one of her PBK chairs. It's the perfect height and she's careful when she's helping me.

They just stand on chairs. I don't have them up high for very long. If I really want them to be involved in something, we just work off the kids table we have in the kitchen.

I've never really understood the point - they're so expensive for a a glorified stool. We just stand on chairs around here.

@sarac: I really wanted one, because our 5yr old kept falling off of chairs, but I couldn't spend $200 for one. I had my father make one for our littlest for his first bday. It cost $60 in materials.

I can see how these would be awesome... but they also take up a ton of space and seem to be crazy expensive. We'll get one if we start really finding a need for it, but for now we just pick up DD if she starts insisting on seeing what we're doing.

Same here, we just don't have the space or money for one. I've thought about making a "cage" to adapt one of our dining chairs into one, but he does well in his highchair without the tray when I belly it up to the dining table.

I think E would really enjoy it. Sometimes he likes to climb up on a chair next to me when I cook, but it makes me really nervous, especially since he gets on his tiptoes. I spend a good amount of my attention making sure he's not about to go splat and tend to burn something. I'd love the security of not having to worry about that, but we don't have the space or money for one right now.

We do! We got ours used in great condition off a yard sale site on Facebook. Got it for $90! It's up against our island. She loves being up there and is learning how to crawl out of it now on her own. She's still too short to crawl into it. If I don't have anything for her to play with up there, I just give her some cheerios and a couple of bowls and they keep her happy for now (16 months).
ETA: They are definitely too heavy to move around so, it's not something we can move to the sink to wash hands, then to the island to help.

@mediagirl: Cute!!!!!! I also like her shirt and the turtle in the background.

Nope, he stands on a chair when he wants to help.
Our kitchen is small and the first thing I did was to teach him never to touch the stove or anything on it without permission. He's really good about it, but I still keep him mostly out of arm's reach of the stove, and if I have to move away to open the fridge or something, I have him sit down and I pull his chair into the middle of the kitchen so he's not near the stove.
