If there are kids museums near you, do you have a membership to one? Do you find that membership is worthwhile? We used to go to our local kids museum all the time but we found this year we didn't use the membership all that often. I'd like to get back to using it more because it's the perfect place for our daughter at this age (3.5).
Do you have a membership to a kids museum? How often do you use it?

We do, but I try to avoid indoor places with her in flu season because last year she was in the ER for Christmas! I can't get that sick again from her this year!!!!!!!! But in the spring and fall we plan to go a lot. For now we do zoo, botanical gardens, arboretum, things like that!

Yep. Here right now! It's pouring and I love having a fun inside place for her to run around with other kids. Bonus we also got our Santa picture done here. She's in daycare 3x/wk so it's futile for worrying about sickness like the PP. Lots of handwashing!

We do and we love it. Has more than paid for itself (well especially because this year it was a gift). We live about a mile from a really great one so we walk there. Hoping we can get there a lot after this baby is born too.

Yep! We go a couple times a month on average, I'd say, when the weather is too hot or rainy to play in the park. She loves it! It's about 1 mile from us so a 15 min walk.

not a museum because there are none nearby me. But i did have a membership at the Science Centre and we went ALL the time for a year. I plan to renew it when i start my mat leave. My friend had a museum membership and i think she went there often. I went with her a few times and it seemed like a fun enough place that i also would have the done the same thing if i lived as close as she did.

I bought one on Black Friday for 50% off. Haven't used it yet....but we've been a few times. It's a great place but kinda $$$. Except I was going to take the kids tomorrow and they don't open until NOON! Not cool

We have one to the zoo, but have asked for a membership to the children's museum for Christmas. I think it'd be a great place to take the kids when it's unbearably cold in January and February!

Nope, but I think it'd be cool to! There isn't anytime on the weekdays to take him after I get off work; and weekends go by so quickly with errands and other obligations. We've talked about getting one, but never made it happen. Maybe when DD is here and a bit older we will?

No, but we do have a membership to our local natural history museum. They are also part of the ASTC, so we get to visit a lot of museums for free, including quite a few children's museums.
@mediagirl: Btw, I love your children's museum! We went last year with the kids, and they had a blast. Also very affordable compared to most museums.

MIL is getting us a membership this year. We live walking distance to our children's museum (same one as you, I think!) and our nanny takes the kids there, too, so we think we will use it a lot!

@jlm22: we started in the fall after she turned a year, so she had just started walking- but before that it was summer so we were at the playground all the time and didn't need the museum so much. There is a little section just for crawlers that is nice (but small). Then there is a larger Under 3 section where crawlers can play too and things for them to cruise on, but no big kids running around. We should go together at some point this winter so you can try it out before you buy! The library also gets passes so it's half price for a day. Once babies are a year they cost the same as an adult.

Not yet; DD is a little young for it. Def maybe when she's older and after we have #2.
Our local library lends out passes and I can get it once a month. It's hard to get but I just scored 1 for next month! That will do for now.

We did this year (it was a gift). We only went to our local museum 3 times but we went to the one near my in-laws (8 hours away) a bunch! We saved 50% on those tickets since we're members of the network, and I think that alone made it worth it this year. Next year I think we're going to get a membership to their museum instead and use the 50% at the one near us since we go less often.

No children's museum, but we have the zoo, acquarium, and the technical museum which is heavily oriented to kids. We go to the zoo maybe 8-10 times per year, the acquarium 3-4 times and the technical museum maybe 4-5 times.

Yup, the Children's Museum of Manhattan, it's about 50 yards away from our apartment building! Except that every time we go, my kids get sick, so I've been avoiding it lately. But we used to go 2-3x a week!

We have a few memberships but the kids museum was temporary and it doesn't look like it'll be staying around.
We have cultural museum, science museum, and zoo memberships.

Yes we have a museum membership. We haven't used it all that much. However, the membership lets us get into lots of other places in Ontario as well like the Toronto aquarium and Toronto science center so it has more than paid for itself.

No, not for kids museums, but the local contemporary art museum has kid memberships so we are a part of that. Adults get in free with each child (also free!). They do some kid stuff that is mostly elem+ age range, but it's nice.
Our local-ish science center museum is also free, which is very kid centered. We also get into the natural history museum for free bc of DH's work affiliation.
We do have a membership to the aquarium and last year we did a zoo membership. DD isn't into it now though 
she's not a fan of the shark touch-tanks after watching Finding Nemo haha. She'd much rather go to Disneyland if we are doing an outing haha.

I think we're getting a membership to our local aquarium for Christmas. They have a little play area so that should be fun. I've never been and it's just down the street.

We go to our children's museum 2-3 times per month if we aren't out of town. LO loves it! But we don't have a membership because we'd have to go every single week for it to pay for itself, not even to save money. I think if we had more than one child, or went as a family versus just LO and I more often, it might be worth it but it's just not. Though I have still thought about a membership to support the museum.
