We don't have one, but I've been thinking that it might be handy to use in certain rooms in the house (like the kitchen, which has floors which can get magically dirty - it's amazing).
Anyway I'd love a Roomba but we just can't justify dropping that much cash on it!
Do you have a Roomba vacuum? If you did, would you use it?

I had one a couple of years ago and hated it. It would always get stuck in this one corner and couldn't get out, so when I got home a couple of hours later I had to "free" it from the corner.

We have one, I have a love/hate relationship with it.
It's great in theory, you can just let it go in a room and it does what it has to do, but ours always gets caught on something or other and it scares my son!

My parents had one a few years ago and it really didn't work that well. It would just go over and over the same spot and miss other spots, and sometimes it would get stuck in the corner.

We have no longer in use. It was great for our small apartment when we lived downtown. When we moved to our bigger condo, it was only worth it for one room. Once we got a Dyson, Roomba got retired. I agree that it's great in theory, but sometimes a pain.

Roomba is good for non-carpeted areas that you don't mind having it spend an extended amount of time to "do its thing" because it'll go over some areas a few times before moving on to a new area. I found it faster to just vacuum myself.

Nah skip it. We had one years ago and it doesn't work all that well. Good in theory.

My long hair pretty much strangles Roomba to death after a while. DH got kind of sick of cleaning it out all the time so it hasn't run in a while, lol. But it is good at daily maintenance for dust ball and pet hair. We typically schedule it to run a couple times a week while we were at work.

Hate mine!!! We have the one that goes on carpet and floors.
1- it take forever. It goes around the house and takes hours and its just like, really? I could have done that in 15mins!"
2- it misses corners because its round and can't go under that edge of cabinets (where sugar spills, or rice or crumbs)
3- it's awesome for hardwood which we have, but not great for tile (our kitchen) because it misses the edges of the tiles (the indented part).
Just not work the $500.
Ours was bought because I got a $250 giftcard for BB&B.
I'd skip it!
We have and LOVE:
A Shark hard floors vacuum
A Shark carpet vacuum
And a Shark steam mop
Ps: BB&B has a great return policy so you could always try it for 2-3 days?

My SIL has one and loves it.
I've read reviews that say they break pretty easily and the parts are hard/expensive to replace.
I'd wait a few more years to let the technology advance and get cheaper!

i love the roomba! we leave our doors open a lot in the summer and there is dust everywhere, so it's nice to schedule the thing and forget it! we have tile and hardwood and it works well. just remember to pull up your cords or roomba will eat them. 
ETA: buy it from costco if possible. we got one from my brother for our wedding 3 years ago, and it just broke. they looked it up on his account and gave us the money back. we bought a new one from costco again.

I love love LOVE mine! I can do laundry and vacuum at the same time! You have to remember what it is and cant expect a 100% clean up but it does a great job for pet hair and dust bunnies. I set it out most days and do a handvac around baseboards/corners maybe once a week.

I have a Roomba and only used it a couple times. I just never liked that it was so aggressive about bumping into the furniture. It lives in its dock next to the Mint, which also doesn't get used!

We have a Neato (similar idea). Love it because I don't have to sweep all the time. Cons: we have to pick up everything off the floor before we start it (Not necessarily a bad thing!!), its loud and it has broken once before. However, we bought it from Costco and we dealt with the Neato customer service who was fantastic and replaced it right away.
The Neato is laser assisted so it doesn't bump into things. So it doesn't ruin my baseboards and furniture!

I love ours. We bought the super duper industrial strength one because I have long hair and so do our pets. It doesn't do a great job at the corners and misses some spots, but it takes the edge off and I don't have to drag the big vacuum out every day.

It sounds like most people don't agree, but I love my roomba! We have a very open floor plan with hard floors and only carpet in one room. We run the roomba every day and sometimes twice a day (once when my DH leaves for work in the morning and then again after lunch because he eats lunch at home and starts roomba again). The roomba doesn't get ALL the floor every time you run him, but if you run him a lot then he keeps up with it all. I rarely sweep, only when we have guests over.
He does sometimes get caught under the bed, but since we run him so much it doesn't matter. We have to clean him out about every 5-10 uses because hair gets tangled around his wheels, but it's still easier than vacuuming/sweeping every day!
(yes, we call roomba a "he" it just fits better than "it" )

@.twist.: i saw the title of this thread & went to find the video, then saw you beat me to it! =D looooove it! i'm not sure my cat you want to wear a shark costume.... but i think DH could make it happen! hahaha. this would also be my only reason for wanting one. our floors don't get that dirty, now if it did baseboards- that i would want!

We hated our roomba. We have an open floor plan... no carpet and it always got tangled on something... or died... and never did that great of a job. I got a rechargable stick vacuum and I run it over the floors every day or so and it does a much better job.

Also, I'd take any machine that was good at cleaning baseboards! PITA!

Well DH does all our vacumming, but we get mad dust bunnies in our 800 sq ft apartment so I would love to try one! We have mostly hardwood floors and thin rugs too so I think it would work pretty well. But at $500 - which is basically what our really nice vacuum cost - I think I'll take a pass lol!

We got one as a wedding present 4 years ago. It broke after a couple of years but we just got it fixed and now we're using it again for the upstairs carpeted bedrooms. I LOVE IT. I just use a swiffer for the wooden floors downstairs.

I have a roomba that I adore, but it doesn't work on my carpet. I don't know if some do, but mine just . . . doesn't. I miss it, when I used to have hardwood floors, I'd just run it each day, and barely ever have to do a big vacuuming. Now I have to do it every other day, and it is such a pain.

I have one and while it's a good idea in theory, it sucks .. And not on the good way. It got stuck and pushed stuff all over the place and was just annoying.
