We have a little fireproof safe but anyone could just pick up and take it. Apparently it's not very fireproof anyway, because it's so cheap. We really need to come up with a better option. My parent's just got their entire safe stolen (that was over 150lbs), so they are coming up with other options as well. Do you have a safe?

Yes, we had a company come and install one that is pretty much impossible to steal. I don't even know how they got it down the basement stairs, it's so heavy.
ETA: it might be overkill since we're just storing replaceable documents, but I got really annoyed after losing my birth certificate while moving and didn't want to replace it again.

Yes we have 2. We have a 1 that is waterproof/fireproof in a spare bedroom closet that has all of our passports, birth certificates, SS Cards, etc in there. Our other safe is a small bedside gun safe that DH keeps his handgun in loaded just in case, also we have a good amount of cash in there for other just in case times!

We wil be getting one when we hire a nanny...Just to put things I that shouldn't just be laying around like SScards and checkbooks and such.

We just have a little firesafe that anyone could just carry out. Holds passports, SS cards, wedding license, and disk of wedding pictures.

We do not, but probably should get something so that all of our important papers (SS cards, birth certificates, car titles, travelers checks, passports, etc) are in one place. Currently those things are scattered about so it would be nice to have one central location for those things...especially since I am missing about $300 worth of travelers checks from a long ago trip....grrr....

we have a very small one for DH's guns when he doesn't leave them at work (he's a police officer)
eta: we leave most of our important docs (birth certs, passports, etc.) in a safety deposit box at the bank

Nope. We do have a safety deposit box at the bank that stores all our important documents though.
