Reading YHL's new post got me thinking how many of us have a shed.
We don't have a shed in our yard.

Yes, we have two because the previous owners got a new one and never removed the old one. We think of making it a play house.

We don't, but I've been thinking about it.
For those who do, logistically, how did you get the shed into the backyard? We only have a narrow gate opening into the back, so a truck like YHL isn't an option. Do you build one in?

We just bought a house and it does have a cute little red shed in the middle of the backyard! We plan to use it for lawn mower and other tools.

We built ours. It was a must. We are on a couple acres and we had NO out buildings for storage. So for the riding mower and other yard stuff. We really needed it.

Not yet, but plan on getting one to have a cleaner garage.

in our first house we built an 8x8 shed from a lowe's kit. Our new house had one already.

@Mamaof2: @Chillybear: good to know about the kits! I've really only been contemplating so hadn't researched yet.
I'm pregnant, though, so I guess DH would be the primary lifter and builder. Likelihood of a shed just got smaller

@MrsA: When I say "we" I mean my husband, his brother and his dad.... I just helped paint it.

We do, but we don't really use it! We should keep more stuff in there, but it's a pain to lock/unlock it when we need something so we mostly stash stuff in our garage.

We just got one (for free) from a friend who was upgrading ours. It's currently sitting in the backyard in 12390 pieces.
DH is SO excited - and I can't WAIT to have some room in the garage.

@Andrea: that's why we got a shed. Our garage is small and we like to park both of our cars in the garage so we had to get a shed for all the yard tools. It helps so much!
pineapple / 12053 posts
yes, but ours is small for some yard tools. it's more like a reach in shed.
pomelo / 5220 posts
nope but I live in a city + no yard to mow. The people behind us have one though...

@sandy: @Andrea: We don't have one, but many people in our neighborhood do; they're all homes with 2-car garages, so I am sure this is the reason why.

The people who we bought our house from built the biggest shed legally allowed. It's basically the size of a one car garage and it's awesome. He even built a little balcony on the front b/c his son wanted a tree house. My kids are a bit too young to utilize that but my nieces and nephew love it!

I just read the same post haha. Yes, we have a shed that was here when we purchased our home. It's behind our garage and we use it to store gardening supplies (pots, soil, seeds, rake, etc) and our recyclables before collection day. We store our lawn mower, snow blower, etc in the garage because it's more secure and there's lots of room because we don't use it for parking.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Yes.. Came with the house, our contractor re-painted for us. We store all the gardening stuff in there.
pear / 1955 posts
No - we have a detached one car garage that we use to store tools, toys, lawn mower, etc.
persimmon / 1367 posts
Nope, but we have a detached garage that is on one side of the yard and functions much more like a large shed than a garage since it was built in 1928 and is too small to put a car in!
pomelo / 5228 posts
Yes! And we had to buy a new one because the first was stolen from our alley not long after we moved

We have a small lean-to type one DH and I built from a kit. It's a Costco shed but we bought it (new in box!) on Craigslist. It's great!
eggplant / 11824 posts
No, but we have a very oversized garage so we don't have any need for one.

@agold: I follow them on FB which is the only way I see their posts. I think about a month ago they announced that they are doing podcasts and every now and then they'll do posts on their website. I think they have had 3 posts (4 including this one). I don't think they will ever go back to the blogging they used to do. It's still good to see them pop up in my news feed.
I haven't had the chance to listen to their pod casts though.
ETA: Whoah. I just looked on FB, they post something (blog post, podcast, IG or FB post) at least once a day.

We have a 3 car garage, so we use the third bay for storing stuff. Our backyard is kind of weird, so I don't think there's really a place for one anyways.

Our house came with five and a little cabin! Insanity. One is falling over and not really a shed, one we converted into a chicken coop, one has been a "needs to be thrown out" shed, one became storage for my parents boat, and one is in great shape and empty.
Before we got our house they were all filled with old car parts and junk...which naturally they left a lot of.

We have a detached two-car garage that we use for storage but we are planning to finish it and turn it into a guest house/office (which we could use especially once LO arrives), and we have some space kind of right next to the garage, so we are thinking of getting a shed from Home Depot. Looking into them this weekend.

One next to our house. Not nearly as nice as ours because our yard is small, but it's so nice to have one!
