Nope, 70 degrees here! It's supposed to be 40 and rainy tomorrow though...

We opened the office at 10:00 today and I was late because I got stuck. ha, wish I would have just stayed home!

@jhd: Ooooh, you're being so much more productive than me! I guess crocheting counts....maybe I'll cook this afternoon!

Our office had a delayed opening at 10am, but it wasn't really needed as the storm missed NY so we just really got a dusting.

@lilteacherbee: It was 70 here yesterday! (Central Virginia) This weather is kind of insane.

Nope, our "snowstorm" only ended up being a couple inches. My family in Texas is all at home today because of the ice there, though!

@snowjewelz: Nice! Glad you got to go in a little late AND it wasn't too bad out.

Nope! Here, it would have to be a ridiculous amount of snow for regular businesses to be shut down. I think school has been cancelled a couple of times this year.

@twodoghouse: Yes! My BFF lives in Austin and yesterday it was cold(ish) there and 70 and sunny here. And now....it's been snowstorming since early this morning. Ha! This is why I like summer--at least I usually know what to expect!

Nope, just another normal day for the Midwest and snow this winter. DH offered to clean off the car last night, but he was sick, so I told him not to. I wish I had since the windshield wipers were iced over. Good thing it took awhile to coax LO to get ready this morning while the car defrosted.

@pui: Yeah, where I live we only get "big snow" a couple times every few years. Because of that, our budgets don't include much money for the big equipment and stuff to get rid of it...which means it's kind of absurd how helpless we are when the weather gets bad.

@cascademom: Ugh, the windshield thing is the worst! I am so bad at remembering stuff like that...usually DH is a little better than me, luckily.

Nope, our snowstorm ended up being maybe an inch? It went south! But I'm a SAHM so I'd have been here anyway, I was answering for D, ha! He's gotten one snow day this year, during the last big one we got...his business works closely with transit companies, and they were all closed, and most of their retail buyers were closed as well, so there wouldn't have been much work for them anyway.

I do, surprisingly! I was all dressed and ready for work and then decided not to go in. They ended up closing around 10, so now I don't have to use PTO. I'm pretty happy!

@mfa_lady: My winter car skills have vastly improved this year as the morning routine person. I take the ice scraper to it until they move. I've seen pics of NYC where people prop their wipers up. I don't know why we don't do it here in the Midwest. At least it wasn't too cold this morning. I've cleaned the car in negative temps. That sucked. 1-7 degrees this morning was almost comfortable.

@lovehoneybee: We only have 4 or 5 inches, I think...but there's a layer of ice underneath that from all the sleet and freezing rain. Ick!

@Littlebit: Gotta love the RVA snow shutdowns, huh? Hope you're feeling good, lady!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@looch: I hear that. I actually had a huge day at work today and it's going to be a you-know-what to make it up. But, I'm trying to focus on the good parts of the day...like crocheting and TV!

@cascademom: DH is a big fan of putting the wipers up! And you go, girl. You know you're tough when 7 degrees is balmy!

@mfa_lady: A week or two ago I was out for a short walk with E. I was walking up an incline and had him flung over my shoulder. There was slush and snow on the ground. My feet slid out from under me...one leg went straight in front of me (like a front split) and the other bent under me at the knee. I then realized that underneath the snow and the slush was a layer of ice. Luckily I took all of the brunt...E just thought it was funny that mommy had fallen!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@lovehoneybee: Oh my gosh! That sounds terrible! I hope you were okay--and glad E didn't have a big fall with you!

@Happygal: Yes! We're in Richmond, and our house is just west of the city. The sleet was SO LOUD overnight/this morning. And it's still snowing here--it's been pretty intense!
pomegranate / 3921 posts
@singingbee: Sounds like here, too. And overnight is supposed to be single digits...so the roads will probably be terrible tomorrow, too. Ugh!

@littlek: I did that a little bit, earlier. But nobody was emailing me, so...I busted out the crochet hook.

@jhd: Sewing together a blanket that I've been working on for my parents for AGES. I finally got all the squares connected, but only vertically. Now I have to do the horizontal joins, and the border, and sew in all the ends....ACK! Now I know why I never make blankets out of a million little squares!

@yellowbird: Totally! We were originally supposed to open late but my boss just bit the bullet and shut 'er down.
