My mom is awesome, but we didn't have a relationship at all until I was an adult (way extenuating circumstances involving a messy divorce and a manipulative father with full custody). She lives with us now, though, and helps me with Evan (D works second shift, so she helps with dinner/bedtime), and she'll be watching LO2 when she gets here so we can avoid doubling up on daycare costs.

My dad is a manipulative jerk, and we are as good as estranged. I talk to my stepmom occasionally (through FB), but she's almost as bad as he is.

My ILs are amazing, though!

We've definitely butted heads over the years, but when I was in a tailspin with PPD/PPA over the summer they dropped everything and flew cross-country twice in one month to help out with DD. Amazing would be the word for it.

My parents are definitely amazing. I'm also lucky to have awesome in laws! We won the parent lottery.

My parents are amazing. Of course they annoy me sometimes, but they mean so well and are always there. Last week, dh was out of town, first for work and then because his father was hospitalized (he left his business trip early), and my parents were there to help me manage the dogs and lo by myself, did my laundry, went grocery shopping, etc.

yes, i am SO SO SO thankful for my mom.

@snowjewelz: Right?! She drives 40 minutes each way to DD's school to spend the afternoon in her class, she's a retired teacher, and then we all meet for dinner afterwards.

Yes my parents are totally amazing! They're a huge help to us and are overly generous - which is in no way needed yet I am grateful for. I hope to be that way for my kids too.

My dad is a freaking rock star! My mom is in her own lil way when we were kids.

My MIL is pretty flipping awesome too. She spoils me.

Neither live near us, but they do so much for us anyhow.

My MIL is awesome! My Mom unfortunately has been a huge disappointment as a Grandmom, even forgetting DS's first birthday

Yes, my parents are incredible. My mom has always been my backup daycare and when we were going through a rough patch, she often shifted her whole schedule around to try and help us out. They're very thoughtful and considerate. My mom is always my first call when something goes wrong, or I need parenting/sick child advice. And my son just adores them - he constantly asks to go to their house. I am so lucky and I love them so much.

Yes. My parents and my inlaws are both incredible. I hope we can be half the parents they are.

Absolutely! When we visited last Christmas they would take turns rocking DS for hours in the early morning so I could sleep (he was going through a major sleep regression) and they are always so helpful when they visit. Unfortunately we live on opposite sides of the country.
