No, we don't. We really should have a few things in case a hurricane comes.

We don't but the ob gave me a list of things we should put in it.
Considering my pregnancy is during hurricane season, need to get on that soon!

We don't have one. When I lived in OK in tornado alley, we didn't have one then either. Oops!!

We don't and we'd really be screwed if a real emergency happened because they don't sell bottled water here - everyone drinks from the tap! As for food and lighting, we're stocked up but the water really needs to be remedied.

We usually have some things during tornado season, but probably not as prepared as we should be. I try to always keep bottled water, batteries, flashlights, and a little radio on hand that runs on batteries.

We have 8 kits for various places/reasons.

We have a kit at home that's set up for if we needed to hunker down here for an extended period. Our main issue is that our water comes from North Vancouver, so if the pipes/water supply were affected we'd be screwed on this side of the river. So we have tons of drinkable water stored. Food I have enough for probably a week and half, so could be better there.

Then we have our portable kit that's ready to go in case we needed to evacuate our home. That one only has maybe 3 days of food that we could grab if we literally only had time to grab the food, and we would take from the home kit if we had more time to pack.

Then DH and I each carry a smaller kit in our cars, and one for each of us at work that we keep in our desks (our office handles the food part, so it's mostly just personal necessities and things like comfortable walking shoes) and I'm working on two for LO. One short term kit to keep at day care, and a larger kit for her if she has to be separated from us for an extended period. DH and I are both emergency services workers, so the expectation is that if a major event ever took place we would be at work, not taking care of our own family if we're able to get physically get to work, so she needs to come with her own kit to whomever's door step she ends up on.

@looch: I somewhat use it as my pantry. Things like peanut butter I'll use up from our kitchen, then remove the one from the emergency kit and replace it on my next shop. About twice a year I go through and just use the basic stuff that I would consider an every day edible that might be coming up to "expiry" and eat it, and then replace the items. Some of the items that are more like... "I'd eat it in an emergency, but I'm not inclined to do it voluntarily" (like canned meats) we just throw out. I tend to do the cycle in the summer since we'll often go camping, so I'll pack from there and then replace the items with fresh.

We keep that in two large-ish bins with several propane tanks for our camping stove. There's things like boxed milk, juice boxes, almond milk, beans, trail mixes, protein bars, various dehydrated and canned soups, canned fruit and veggies, crackers, cookies, chocolate bars, cereal, nut butters, Gatorade powder, sugar, salt and pepper. Seven 4L drinking water, and then two of the 18.9L bottles filled with regular tap water with hand pump for hygeine and washing dishes.

We have two backpacks for evacuation (and use at home if we don't evacuate). They have the same food, but just smaller quantities, and leans more toward the foods that are light to carry, but nutrient dense. As well as batteries, crank radio, candles, lighter, waterproof matches, basic first aid kit, water treatment tablets, a dozen 1L water bottles and reuseable canteens, purification tablets, manual can opener, a cooking pot, camp stove and propane tank, clothes for layering, extra socks and undies, work gloves, tarp, wool blanket, mylar survival blanket, hand sanitizer, dishsoap, baby wipes, roll of toilet paper in a ziploc bag to stay dry, multi-tool, flashlight, cell phone chargers, $600 in smaller bills (who knows if the lines will be up to accept other forms of payment) and some coins, duct tape, sewing kit (I steal them from hotels), garbage and biohazard bags, two N95 masks per person, feminine hygeine products.

And then the ones in our cars are somewhat similar but smaller versions that we could grab but probably only a 48 hour kit. I keep the fabric type things (tarp, clothing) in a vacuum sealed bag in my trunk so they compress and don't take up tons of space, and then just a small tupperware box with some other essentials. This one just has protein bars, and dried fruit/nut mixes. And mine always has a pair of good walking shoes, since if I was at work, I'd probably be in heels, which aren't practical survival footwear.
