@mediagirl: are you allergic or lactose intolerant? haha.

@chopsuey119: allergic. Head congestion, not the other thing.

I don't have any major food allergies (thankfully!), but I did have a really strange reaction to a blood orange margarita I had at a fancy bar a few months ago. My mouth got really itchy and my tongue swelled up. It was very weird, and not what I was hoping for when I went out to celebrate defending my Masters thesis. Oh well!

Lactose intolerant and working on confirming some suspected other food allergies. BOO.

I used to be allergic to wheat but not anymore! It was horrible--I'd get hives and then they'd come back for days any time I got warm. It was about 1.5 years before I tested it and didn't get the hives anymore. Now I eat almost anything.
I'm also allergic to the pesticide they use on red grapes so if they aren't washed right my mouth swells up. I generally just avoid red grapes.

No known food allergies. I'm fortunate that way. I know some people who life is miserable because of their food issues. One lady I know is allergic to wheat and dairy. I couldn't imagine.

Shrimp.
I'm pretty sure I have other food allergies, but nothing else that I've been able to pinpoint.

I had zero allergies until I turned 21. Then one by one I discovered allergies to most fresh fruits and vegetables. I can eat them if they're cooked or processed in any way, but not raw. It's called oral allergy syndrome, and I'm allergic to any fruit or veggie that cross-reacts with birch pollen (the pollen that causes my seasonal allergies as well).
Apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, plums, cherries, kiwis, cantaloupe, honeydew, all peppers, carrots, celery, almonds. There are more but they're not that common (like raw potatoes, jicama, etc)

@mrs.wagon - My cousin has that same allergy! I feel terrible for you both!

I love food, but am allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, coconut, palm, cantaloupe and strawberry (not oral allergy syndrome - I get hives from just touching the outside of a cantaloupe), and all kinds of produce from OAS. It definitely restricts what I can eat! And makes my allergy tests a little crazy.

Love food too and thankfully not allergic to anything. I was allergic to chocolate at one point as a kid, which was very sad. I somehow outgrew it or just refuse to believe it. =p
