I find this is particularly common with my friends who do crossfit. But other things I hear way too much about are biking and diets (paleo, etc). Listen guys I like drinking wine and binge watching TV... But I don't talk about it all the time.

Yes on the crossfit!! It's like a cult. The same people constantly talk about paleo.

I don't have any friends I talk to IRL or on the phone who do crossfit, but I have several friends on FB who do it and post about it constantly. Like on vacation at the beach doing crossfit and posting pics...dude just relax and have a freakin' margarita! And yes to the paleo and vegan talk too.
eggplant / 11716 posts
This is more of a problem with FB friends than real life friends. In real life, no. On FB...yes, there are people who post daily with the same things.
-I have the two mom friends who post their child's bento boxes each day
-the many sports fanatic friends
-the one "conspiracy theorist" friends who posts crap from naturalnews.com every day
-the one vigilante vegan friend who posts anti meat stuff each day
-and the animal-shelter junky who posts literally 20 updates a day of pictures of abused animals, animals headed to the kill shelter, articles about certain breeds being discriminated against.
Lump all those in with all the FB friends selling Rodan + Fields and the nail stuff and I do a lot of "I do not want to see this".

@Truth Bombs: we should hang out. I puffy heart binge watching tv and drinking.
I hate the paleo crap. Carbs are awesome. We are taking a break from each right now but I can't wait till we can be BFF's again.

Crossfit + Paleo folks or BFing in public + babywearing gals are the most intense/obnoxious people who blow up my FB feed.
Considering my breakfast was the puffs my kid threw on the floor, 2 cups of coffee with lots of French Vanilla creamer, and white toast, I am the anti-Paleo. And my workout today will be cleaning, hefting my kid around the house, and maybe going for a stroller walk after he has his bottle of pumped BM or *gasp* formula.

Friends who think that "pic or it didn't happen" is an actual thing when it comes to working out. No one caressss that you went to the gym this morning. No. One. Cares.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@Smurfette: Glad I'm not the only one who counts those things as hobbies!
nectarine / 2272 posts
Hmmmm I'm probably the friend that talks too much about crossfit and cooking. I mean I basically have work, my kid, my husband, and crossfit and food. So it's not like I have a wealth of other things to opine about!
pomegranate / 3355 posts
@Anagram: LOL.. I have some of "those" friends too! Specifically the vegan vigilante, the conspiracy theorist and the animal lovers!
I actually don't find the cross fitters to be too bad, but my husband is one so maybe that's why?? I don't like the "post a picture of my at home workout" and the "post a picture of my shake"

I have a couple friends that are librarians that are CONSTANTLY posting library related memes and articles. One of the same girls is also into crossfit. I think I may need to mute her on my feed.
eggplant / 11716 posts
@ShootingStar: haha...crazy. I'm a librarian and I don't think I've ever posted anything library related. But I think I have librarian friends who do!

@Synchronicity: excussssse you princess, I really like to take a selfie after I work out my way through a bag of potato chips.
lol just kidding I don't do that. usually.
ETA: Like, I never eat a WHOLE bag of potato chips in one sitting okay guys?
honeydew / 7622 posts
@Truth Bombs @smurfette you guys are my spirit animal.
I was just talking to M about how I need a real hobby. He has tons and I need to find something I like that gets me out of the house besides shopping and going to the spa.
In all seriousness that's one of the reasons I only have a few friends in FB. I just use it to admin my business page, be part of the March 2015 HB birth club, follow local businesses and keep up with community events. I joke that FB made me dislike people I love IRL.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Ajsmommy: Yes. Posting pics of the home workout. Like sprawled on the floor all sweaty, "Just finished Day 20...I feel so GREAT!" Vom.
And paleo. Paleo is crap. You're following a diet based on the way ancient people ate. Ancient people who died at 20 years old and were hunched over and had protruding foreheads. No.
I had to block a friend (before I quit fb entirely) who posted really obnoxious and frankly rude things about being an atheist. Like, literally calling people who believed in religion stupid. I once called him out on it and told him he was being disrespectful and he told me that if people are dumb enough to believe in religion, then he doesn't respect them anyway. I unfriended him, as I imagine many of his other friends might have. And I'm not even really religious.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@.twist.: Wait, what's wrong with eating a whole bag of potato chips? If that's wrong I dont want to be right.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@littlebug: I have had to defriend a couple people who posted offensive pro-life things on a regular basis. There is no reason I need facebook getting me all hot and angry.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@hotchildinthecity: If you're talking to other crossfit people, that's cool. But I think when you're having a conversation with a friend, you don't really want to talk about their work out routine that has no connection to your life and you have no opinion on you know?
pomelo / 5524 posts
The crossfit posts do annoy me a bit, but then again, I feel like it's the new Zumba. That was blowing up my newsfeed for a really long time, but it's since died down and become more crossfit.
I likely post a little too much about running. When you have a hobby you love, you just can't help it sometimes!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Truth Bombs: I just said not in one sitting.... I sit multiple times a day.
@littlebug: I think calling a diet that people enjoy and see results from "crap" is a little like calling all people who believe in religion "stupid", when people feel as though they love and get results from their religion.
I don't eat paleo and I am an atheist. I believe everyone has the right to their own diets and religions.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
I think I am jealous of crossfitters....there's a gym by my parents house and I kind of want to show up one day and try it.
What bugs me is the direct selling stuff. I can pretty much deal with anything, but for some reason, all the posts about getting 4 promotions in 5 months and making enough to retire don't sit well with me.
nectarine / 2272 posts
@Truth Bombs: I talk to my non-crossfit friends about it and post workout selfies and protein shakes! I just like to talk and post about something besides J! My friends are single and talk to me about their dates and I haven't dated in 12 years ;).
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
When I was going crossfit I tried not to talk about it too much!
I can't think of anyone annoying IRL, but I get tired of conspiracy political posts on Facebook. I don't think that's a hobby though.
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@looch: I'm pretty sure if I ran a financial plan based on your mascara money it's not going to say you can retire.
papaya / 10570 posts
Yeah, I have a "runner" friend who posts on FB constantly - how many miles she ran and when, pictures of her running club shirt, memes about running, blah blah. She used to post loads of pictures of her cats so this is an improvement I guess!
bananas / 9118 posts
The paleo and crossfit obsessed. Not my thing, I really don't like to talk about dieting or working out period. I eat dirty and chase my kids.
pomelo / 5607 posts
IRL, not really? Well, me, actually. I get really into stuff and obsess over it for a while before I lose interest. So right now DH is very tired of hearing about cookie decorating. But I'm also pretty aware of it and make an effort to curb it when I know I'm talking about something too much. And DH knew this when he married me!
On FB it's mostly the religious stuff. I have a lot of fundamentalist family members, and EVERYTHING they post is about religion in some way. I block them pretty quickly. I'm also about to block SIL if she doesn't stop posting blatantly racist stuff about how cops are always in the right and if you get shot it's because you're a criminal.

An athiest, vegan and cross fitter walk into a bar... How did I know? They told me the minute they opened their mouths.
clementine / 812 posts
This thread is amazing and illustrates why I deactivated my FB over a year ago. One friend was constantly posting what 3 course dinner she made her wonderful, handsome, sickening sweet husband. Seriously? If you need to tell the world how amazing your husband is and what kind of salad, main dish, and dessert you made EVERY night...you're covering something up. Makes me sad for her actually.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
The Shakeology, jamberry, etc, "21 day support groups" and stuff really drive me insane. I also get annoyed when people on FB are 24/7 waxing poetry about their kids/husband. Barfy barf barf.
Everyone has *something* they are into. I have lots of mom friends who are always posting mom memes.
I post a lot of cat photos, lol.
But people do always love to hate on the fit I just generally sorta roll my eyes. I mean, it's FB. My friends IRL aren't like that. Some will drone on and on about their kids to the extent, though, that I would like to talk about something else in your life!
grapefruit / 4321 posts
@Mrs. Coral: The girlfriend of one of my husband's friends posts alllllll the time about how amazing her boyfriend is and what a wonderful life they have together. However, to talk to the boyfriend, he's generally apathetic about the relationship.
papaya / 10343 posts
I have a lot of friends who are really into fitness and stuff. And I'm not. At all. But I feel like it's always give and take. I can't really participate in the convo but I can listen to something they are interested in and maybe try to learn a little. And then I'm sure I talk about crap they don't care about too lol. I feel like friendships are like any relationship, it's never going to be 100% perfect but if you enjoy it more than it annoys you it is worth it. (And if it annoys you more than you enjoy it, you just stop being friends with them).

A lot of what is written here is why I got rid of my FB account, I didn't think I could do it, but I did and I feel soooo frrreeeeee!

@Truth Bombs: Um, i knew a girl like that. They got married in February. Every post leading up to the marriage was how much they loooooved each other. She filed for dissolution of the marriage and a restraining order this week

Oooh, not much of a problem anymore, but the wraps. Wrap people automatically get blocked from me. I don't care if "it works" go away, I'm fat and happy.
Haha, one sitting @.twist.:

Oh yes - the especially annoying ones are those who talk about bicycling on fancy bikes and why everyone should be gluten-free (as I sit there eating my very delicious glutenized cookie).
