Ours is a part of our insurance plan. It has limited providers, though, so I still pay out of pocket for my dental. I don't want to switch dentists, I've been seeing the same person since I was a kid!

Yep we have it through DHs work. It covers a lot. When LO gets here in march he will be on it.

It's all part of a plan for us. But for a while my parents would put the money they would have paid to the dental insurance into a bank and pull out of that for dental expenses. It ended up a lot cheaper.

we do and our kid will. It is just one rate and it is only like $14/mo for everyone. It includes free cleanings so it is definitely worth it.

Yes for both, but it is through a plan and offered together so I haven't had to consider the cost much.

Yup. Through work, so it doesn't cost extra. Your plan makes sense though. Cleanings and maybe (although hopefully not) a few fillings aren't too expensive.

Nope no one in my family has dental insurance, that said my family and myself get free dental work because I work in a dental office.

I have dental and so does DH through my work. We did not put LO on last year as she was just turning 1 and our dentist said she did not need to be seen until 2. I am going to talk to our office before open enrollment this month because we are leaning toward Mr. Bee's plan of paying out of pocket. My work has good benefits for the employee but it is expensive to add dependents.

I do and just added LO to my plan for 2014. She'll be 18 months - 2.5 years during this year and we will probably try and get her in for a cleaning during the second half of the year. It's very affordable under my work, if it was very expensive I probably would have passed.

Yep! I haven't started her on it since she is only almost 8 months.

We do. I have no idea, when and if I get pregnant, how to give us dental and not the baby. Not sure, if I have to get it for the full family or just select family members. I'll have look around on my work's benefit page.

yes, we all have dental through DH's work. We all get 2 free cleaning/checkups a year. And 50% of everything else is covered.

we do! when i didn't, i had my teeth cleaned at a local dental school, it was great & inexpensive. they also made teeth whitening trays for me for just the materials cost which was like $25, i them!

If you have to buy it separately I wouldn't bother. Although I have it free from my employer, pretty much all dental insurance coverage is capped around 1k so it basically covers only 1 root canal or crown and then you are paying out of pocket anyway. I don't think the amounts of coverage have been raised since like the 1989s!
