We do now, for the first time in our married lives, and I LOVE it! We moved back to England last year, and DH's parents moved back here from Australia about six months ago. They live ten minutes up the road from us and it is fantastic.
My mom is also retired and flies over from the States for 6 week visits every few months. We absolutely love it!

Nope. 7 (or 10? Ha) hour drive along 95 for both sets of parents. Extended family more like 11 hours or cross country. At least my in laws live in the states now; they used to be in Australia. Now that LO is getting older we are feeling that distance. When we were DINKs, we were all " wahooo no boring family obligations due to the distance". Now we are all "gah why can't our parents live closer life would be so much easier"

My parents, sister and all my family live a 19hr (minimum) flight away. Its tough sometimes but FaceTime has made it easier!
My MIL and SIL live in the same city as us - so does FIL, but we don't have contact.

Yes....my mother lives 2 hours away (but hates driving so usually of we see her it's at her house), my sister is 1 hour away, my in-laws are 1 hour away with no traffic, and I have a sister/brother in law who are 10 min away...
It bums me out though because the people 10 min away are not good babysitters. Not that that's what I would only use them for, we hang out all the time but they are childless and set in their ways and they are not good/reliable babysitters (their words, not mine).

We have no family close by ... which is okay, because we have our "Oregon Family" of friends, which is sometimes much better than real family.

My in-laws are in town, but my family is ten hours away. I so wish it were the other way around.

No, my parents live 7 hours away, and my in-laws live 5 hours away. It sucks.
