Our town only has one hospital (for non military) and it doesn't have a good reputation. A new smaller one is almost done being built near my house, although I don't know if they will deal with childbirth. I hope they will because that's where I wanna go!

We have a maternity hospital that I have birth at, but also 6 other area hospitals in the state (all within 45m).

I live outside of a major city, so there are lots of hospitals nearby, including one less than ten minutes from my house. But I drove over an hour to a hospital near my family to have Eloise last month. It's where my son was born, my whole family lives near there, I liked my midwives, and they have an amazing maternity ward. Totally worth it!

Well there is no hospital in my town, weird because its not rural at all! The closest hospital is half an hour in either direction.
We weren't afraid to drive for a place we loved, so we went to a birth center that was 45 mins away and loved it. It was so worth it

There are 4 hospitals in my area...one has a separate women's and babies hospital at a separate location which is where I gave birth and where my doctor delivers at. One of the other hospitals has a birthing center connected and is monopolized by another OB/GYN practice that split away from the other hospital when it was being built. It really comes down to which doctor you go to as to where you deliver.

We have two hospitals nearby and they're both covered but my midwife only delivers at one. And it's the one I used to work at (in ob, nonetheless).

I had about 10 choices nearby. I chose the hospital with the highest level NICU and then looked for a doctor that had privileges there.

We have lots near our home and work (at least 8 within 45 mins) but it finally came down to two things.
1) Our insurance is provided by a health system, so if you choose to deliver at one of their main competitor system's hospitals they don't pay much; and
2) If I deliver at the hospital I work for, all of the hospital expenses are free, so I only have to pay $300 for the physician component.
In the end it was a no brainer, especially given that our hospital is known for its great birth center. I then chose a doctor who delivered there since my regular doctor doesn't do OB.

There are 2 hospitals with maternity wards in my city, but the OB only works out of one of them.

We have a ton of hospitals but my OB goes through 2. We are luckily closer to the nicer, newer one!

There are several hospitals on the island but only one military hospital. That's the only one that our insurance will fully cover.

I don't think I do, I think over here you get assigned the nearest hospital and that's it unless you opt to go private. We'll be moving before baby is due anyway, so I kind of do get to choose the area but not the hospital.

The current Ob I am going to, same one who delivered my sister and delivered my sisters baby, only delivers at one hospital. If I was brave I would have a outdoor birth though. Just as long as I don't deliver at the hospital I work at and I will be good!

Yes, many options in Boston. I chose my OB based on the hospital I wanted to deliver at.

There are quite a few hospitals around where I live, but my OB has rights to deliver at 3 of them. I purposely picked my OB bc she delivers at the hospital I want to give birth at.

My OB can deliver at two hospitals nearby. I have to deliver at the larger one if they suspect any complications.

Nope, my doctor's office only delivers at one hospital. Their office building is right next store, so it makes sense.

We had a choice of 3 near us, we checked out 2. We went with the one with the better NICU and our pediatrician has rounds there, so it worked out perfectly for us.

The closest hospital that still delivers babies is 50 miles away, but it's a very small town, rural hospital (I loved it though), so most people around here go to one of two hospitals in a bigger town 100 miles away. I think I would choose based on where my doctor can deliver. But I'm planning to have a home birth next time, so if I deliver in a hospital, it'll be whichever one my backup doctor recommends.

We have 2 hospitals to choose from, both of which have re-done their L&D floors in the last 5 years. One used to dominate and the other is starting to take over. I was actaully delivered at the one that used to dominate and went against family tradition and delivered at the other one (which is fancier/more hotel like.) I will go there again, I was very happy (and loved the heated toliet seat and bidet haha)

I have a choice of 4. I'm delivering at my 2nd choice (where I work) because DH isn't comfortable with the distance of my first choice hospital. But its still a great hospital so its fine!

I had the choice of whatever hospital in the city I wanted. My GP doesn't deliver so she just set me up with her favourite OB at the hospital of my choice.

We only have one hospital with an OB floor where I live. The nearest hospital outside of that is about 1hr 15 min away

I picked the midwife group I wanted to work with and delivered at the hospital they are affiliated with. There are several other nearby hospitals that I could have delivered with if I had chosen different doctors.

Many hospitals and my OB delivers at 2. I picked the one with a NICU just in case.

I'm in Boston too so have tons of options. I chose my midwife group based on the birthing center at that hospital before even getting because there were so many options. One thing Boston has is lots of hospitals.

We have 2 hospitals here, both having a 40+% primary cesarean rate!!! We plan homebirths instead.
