Do you refer to your siblings as step or half brother/sister or do you just refer to them as your brother/sister?

I have 2 stepbrothers and a stepsister. I flip between calling me stepsister "my stepsister" and "my sister", mostly depending on who I'm talking to, but I always call my stepbrothers "my stepbrothers". I'm much closer (in age and relationship) to my stepsister, whereas I can barely stand to be in the same room as either of my stepbrothers.

I have a step-brother and 2 step-sisters. I refer to them as such, but refer to their spouses as my sister-in-law or brother-in-law. It's too much to say step-sister-in-law. I also call their kids my nieces and nephews.

@eiko2010: I do call my stepbrother's (soon to be ex) wife my sister-in-law, and their daughters my nieces. I like my SIL way better than my stepbrother, though...she's getting me in the divorce

I have a stepsister but we always just call her our sister unless we're trying to explain different family relationships to people.

I have 4 half sisters and a step brother. I usually refer to them as my brother and sisters unless someone picks up on it from me referring to my step mom or step dad.

All of my siblings are half. I have three brothers and a sister. I don't refer to them as half though. I hate the term half brother/sister. If one of them refer to me that way it really hurts my feelings. That's only happened once or twice though.

For me it depends on who I'm talking to as well. Some people know about my half siblings so I'll say brother and others don't. For the people that don't, I just call then my half siblings so they aren't confused about my immediate siblings! I don't think I'm making any sense...lol

I have a half brother, but I call him brother, my dad adopted him before I was born. He is 9 years older than me. I don't even think of him as a half brother, just my brother.

I don't refer to them as either. My Dad remarried when I was in my 30s and his step children live on the other side of the world. I never see them, so I don't even think of them as half- or step- siblings. I think of them as "my father's wife's children". I have trouble even calling his wife my step mother! but that's just me.

I use sister and brother most of the time because it is easier. I only use step or dads wife's sisters kids if I'm explaining it. Typically only to close friends. (my dad fostered the sisters kids for 3 years when they were younger. We were all sisters then). For example if I talk about how my sisters were traumatized in their youth I qualify that was with their mother.

I have one full sister, 2 half brothers from my mom, and 4 half brothers and sisters from my dad. My youngest sibling is 3! And one sister (from my dad) no one is in touch with. I refer to all my siblings as brother or sister though I am closer with my brothers from my mom because we were all raised together.
Oh I also have 3 step siblings but I call them my mom's husbands kids. I call my mom's husband and my dad's wife by their names because I am too old to call someone step mom or step dad.
Crazy family!

My dad and stepmom divorced, but I'm still very close with her. She remarried 2 years ago and her husband has 2 daughters. We all get along great and do holidays together, so I've dubbed them my bonus mom and bonus sisters.
Also weird... My dad and mom are now back together very very weird, but kind of nice at the same time!

I refer to my step siblings as such, and I refer to their spouses as step sibling in laws. It's definitely a mouthful!

My older sister is technically a half-sibling. Her father died of cancer when she was a toddler. But I've never referred to her as a half-sister or thought of her that way.

I have two half sisters and two step brothers. I don't refer to them as anything but sisters and brothers,.

I have 2 step brothers and I refer to them as so. My dad didn't get remarried until I was 21 so I never grew up with them. They are definitely not my brothers!

I have four step-siblings and think and refer to them as such. It's not a "knock" against them in any way. I also have two little half-brothers. They are so much younger that I almost think of them as nephews. For the record, I also have a sister and a brother.
