After my parents divorced, my mom met a really great man and remarried. He was actually my aunt's husband's brother. So sisters are married to brothers!
My step dad has 3 daughters, so I have 3 step sisters. Only 2 of them lived with us growing up.

I don't have a step brother, but I have a half brother, but my dad adopted him so I consider him just my brother.

My brother is a half sibling. My mom had him when she was 19 and then when my brother was 6 she met my dad, when he was 13 they had me. I never even knew he was a half sibling until I was probably in late elementary school because a teacher told me that if he wasn't my dad's son the he wasn't my real brother. Broke my little heart!

@.twist.: How sad of your teacher to say that to you! He's a real brother.

@.twist.: gah so rude of that teacher!
I don't. My dad is single and my step-dad doesn't have kids. It was a big struggle at first because he came into our family trying to boss us around/be a parent and had no idea what he was doing because he didn't have kids.

Sort-of? My dad is getting remarried in May, and his fiancee has 3 kids...but as we are all over 20, it seems a bit weird to call them my step-siblings lol.
@.twist.: Mean teacher! My DH has 2 half-siblings and he never thought of them as anything but his brother and sister. (Each of his parents had a kid before they met and had him)

@mrskc: Yep! It was pretty awful of them! I still consider him my real brother thought. My stepsons will have a half sibling and I plan to bring them up a similar way. I know their mother will ruin it for them but I will never break my habit of instilling a real sibling relationship between the 3 of them.

@adnama: @Bookworm: thanks ladies. I'm sure I confused a lot of people by calling him my real brother and when they would ask why he was so much older I would say he had a different dad! It just never occurred to me that his other dad meant that he was a half sibling!

I have two stepbrothers and a stepsister. I'm very close to one my stepbrother's soon to be ex-wife and have pretty much disowned him. I don't talk to the other one at all. I'm fairly close with my stepsister.

I don't have any step siblings, but all my siblings are half siblings. I really dislike the term "half sister/brother". I don't feel like they are any less real because we don't share a mom and a dad.

I have 3 stepsisters. My dad married my stepmom when I was a freshman in college, but I knew them for years prior to that.
