No I don't mention little things like that. For the same reasons. Especially my mil...she makes a huge deal out of everything.

I dont tell them any negative news at all. Even if we are sick because we will get a million phone calls. I couldnt even tell my dad when I went in labour cause he would freak the eff out!

Yes!!! My dad recently had a heart attack and already worries too much.

Oh yeah we totally keep stuff like that from the IL's, they are super worriers/ over reactors so yeah... but they also keep really truly serious things from us which is frustrating, even though I know their intentions are pure I have to make a point to tell them to let us know if something happens (ie: grandma in law is not doing well, we'd like to know if she is dying, if possible I know DH would like to say goodbye).

I tell my mom everything (and I assume she then tells my dad). My husband doesn't reveal much to his parents unless his mom asks specific questions.

I don't tell my parents everything.

We don't tell people outside our household about small things. If there is something more serious going on we hold off telling anyone until we have a plan. It helps keep everyone from worrying too much.

I don't tell them until it's necessary.

I had a few abnormal paps but didn't tell my mom about it until I knew the results. And actually, I didn't even tell her that because it ended up being nothing so I didn't even feel it was worth telling at that point since everything was done.

Equally, I haven't told her exactly how some drama with friends aaand vag issues have put me into a bit of a depression. I just don't want her to worry about me, or ask questions, or make suggestions, or worry. Lol.

i don't tell things that will worry them. they have enough stress in their lives already.

I tell most things! But sometimes it backfires because I end up with advice I wasn't necessarily asking for!

Yup! DS had the flu last week and I didn't tell them. Like you, I hate fielding questions and never ending inquiry. I tell them after the fact when I see them, which isn't often. It'll often be in passing like oh yea, last month, he caught the flu. By now, everything has passed and settled so no point digging in for more info.

I filter everything. Hell, they hover over good stuff, let alone bad stuff! Not even gonna go there.

I tell my mom pretty much everything, my ILs a good amount, and my dad and stepmom pretty much nothing. The latter couple knew I was in labor because D insisted on calling them. If it was up to me I'd have just let them find out on FB later...
