I only buy the fake syrup lol. I keep the fake stuff in the pantry.

We do keep it in our fridge because I'm sort of a food safety whacko. We also keep ketchup and mustard in the fridge My rule is if it comes in a jar or bottle and it is open, it goes in the fridge (except nutella-- which specifically says on the jar not to refrigerate. Although lets be honest. Not like a jar ever lasts more than a week or two).

Yes, because we use real maple syrup and the label says to refrigerate. When my family used the fake stuff, we did not, but I wonder if that can form mold, too?

Oh yeah, we've had it go bad before!
Also mustard and ketchup and almond butter.
But I never keep peanut butter in the fridge!

I buy a big jug of pure maple syrup from BJs then pour into a squeeze bottle as needed. I think I'm going to start keeping the the jug in the freezer just bc it's supposed to retain the flavor better.

All condiments are in the fridge. We keep maple syrup in there too because it states to do so on the bottle.

Yes! Fake syrup can stay out though.

Every restaurant I've ever worked at kept ketchup in the fridge overnight. Just bc it's out during business hours doesn't mean it stays out!

We've always kept our maple syrup in the fridge and freezer. We only use the real stuff.

We make our own maple syrup and always keep an open jar in the fridge. We can ours for long term storage in mason jars which makes it shelf stable while sealed, but the open jar stays in the fridge.

Yes, you have to store real maple syrup (not like, the fake Aunt Jemima stuff) in the fridge or it will get moldy.

We store almost all open condiments in the fridge - syrup, mustard, ketchup, jelly/jam. No peanut butter though.

@chopsuey: never been! But that reminds me room service. I always love their mini condiment bottles so you know stuff is new! And they are cute.

@LindsayInNY: yup! Ever since I was kid we've made it as a family. Lugging sap buckets up the snowy hill for two months in the winter was our old way but we've upgraded to tubing and a large collection tank! It's much more enjoyable now. Boiling sap = roasting hot dogs and marshmellows on the fire and fun times with my family
