Her poor body. My aunt had six kids back to back and it KILLED he body. She had to have hip replacement.

Oh yea. I was homeschooled, and a lot of hardcore homeschoolers are quiver full families. Our friends growing up had 10, and one famity has 8.

Our ped is actually of the quiver full mindset, but he said he and his wife must not be very fertile because they only had 2.

My cousin has 4 and has made "our quiver is full" comments, but I don't think they're actually Quiver Full people. I read a blogger who grew up in that kind of family, and a lot of it is pretty horrifying.

@blackbird: I know someone in your city that I went to HS with. They already have 5.

My mom is the oldest of 10, but not for quiver full reasons. Grandma just wanted a big family. One of my cousins wants 9 kids exactly. She loves big families as well. She's 34 with four, and her body doesn't handle pregnancy well. The doctors have told her she may not survive another pregnancy so I believe they're stopping. I know a few families IRL that do practice leaving it up to God the number that they have.

I know several quiver full families (I am a practicing Catholic). I would probably be a QF family myself but I put my career ahead of family planning.

Like mrsblue mentioned, all the QF families I know are awesome, amazing parents so more (baby) power to the ! Ha!

I don't. I never heard about this sect/trend of Christianity.

My parents did use birth control at times but I am one of 6. My dad grew up as a German Brethren, a very small Christian sect mostly on the farming east coast states (Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia) that are kind of like Amish ppl. They interpret the New Testament literally and therefore women were hair coverings (bonnets), men have long beards, men and women sit separately at church, and they don't allow tv, radio, internet, or other sources if secular entertainment.

Long story short, that branch of my family tends to have a lot of kids. My grandmother was one of 14 (surviving) siblings; I have three cousins my age with 7,6, and 6 kids...not sure any of them are done yet. 2 of them also homeschool.

Yep! I think knowing QF families is what gave us the courage to decide to have a large family (we only have one but we plan on six). They showed us that you can have a large family and still have fun and not hate life.

One QF family we know has eight. Another has seven. An older lady I know had 13 (including a set of quadruplets).

We're atheists, but since I have long hair, wear skirts often, plan on homeschooling, and will have a big family, I'm sure most people will assume I'm Christian and into QF.

One of my admins has 6 kids, but I don't think she's truly QF. They are religious and I think have left it sort of "up to God", until her husband got a vasectomy last month!

Nope no one personally. . And I live in the Bible Belt!
ETA: that's not technically true- I know one catholic family who didn't use birth control but got married late and only had 3 boys.

I know 4 people from school with a lot of kids. All of the have remarried making their family even bigger.

My good friend has 5 boys of her own and 1 stepson.
Another friend from HS has 5 kids and 1 stepdaughter.
A college friend has 3 and married a guy with 3.
A girl I know from Jr.HS has 6 boys of her own!

I'm in awe by them. They all have beautiful and healthy children and they're all fit and haven't aged.

Like official QF, no. But I do live in an area with high average family size, like 5 plus. It's a status/economic thing though.

I don't know any QF families personally, but I did know many military families with LOTS of kids (5+). I'd say it's a pretty ingrained part of military culture to pop out tons of babies. We were an anomaly only having one and not planning for more.

Yes. I grew up in churches where a lot if people (but not my family) were QF and into gothardism etc. There were also a number into the "save babies from abortion by adopting" trend, so big families that way as well (which was odd because it's harder to adopt in nz)

The largest I know had 15 kids, no multiples. Interestingly, all the adults in this family have delayed marriage. I suspect it's because they're quiver full minded but don't want 15!

Nope, the norm here is 2 kids but my section of the country is a bit more secular than others are.

Nope. I think a lot of people (Catholics) I know use NFP but in this area most people stop at 4 max. The norm is 1 or 2.

The families I know with 5+ kids are Mormon or Catholic....I've think I've only heard the "quiver full" term used by fundamental Christians? A Mormon family in my childhood neighborhood had 14 kids. Awesome people! I love the idea of 5+ kids but there's not an example anywhere in my family, despite lots of Catholicism.

My mom is one of five, and the middle 3 are all roughly a year apart. Their next door neighbors had 13 kids, no multiples. They are both Catholic families. I don't know anyone in my generation of family or friends with more than 3 kids.
