My little sister is adopted. It was through foster care. Since she is Asian most people assume she wasn't born in the US and are so confused when we say she is from America when asked. Other than that, I went to school with two people who were adopted.

I babysat and grew up with two families that have both biological and adopted (domestic) kids. One family adopted and then conceived (also had a late term loss and went through some fertility treatments). The other Family had a bio child and then I think had secondary fertility issues or just choose to adopt. Both are integrated really well into the family.

Oh I did date a guy with an adopted sister. Apparently he didn't like her (even though she was adopted young) and said she had a lot of emotional issues that really messed with their family I guess. I was upset because I wanted a husband who would be open to adoption and he wasn't.

One of my law school professors adopted a daughter from China, when they went to bring her home it was just the best reason for class to be cancelled! Our neighbors also have two adopted sons (domestic) who are HS/college-aged.

My sister adopted twin boys. DH and I were approved for adoption 1 week before we got a BFP and had to be put on hold. We will probably resume the process this spring.

My old manager was adopted as a baby but he found out much later (in high school). It was hard on him when he found out at first but he came to terms with it eventually.

Have any of you read about twin sisters separated at birth and both were adopted by different families? They found each other through FB. Amazing story!

Yes, lots actually. Our church even has a group for all of the families that have adopted, are in process or just thinking about adopting. It's an awesome thing! And there are families that have adopted domestically, internationally and through foster care. it's a great support & resource for everyone.
