My mom says I slept like crap and I never slept through the night until I was 11 months old.
My MIL says all three of her sons slept through the night by 6-8 weeks....we didn't believe her so she found baby books for Baby 1 and 2 where she logged their first nights of STTN. She has no proof for DH who was baby 3...lol!

I didn't STTN until a year! And I was formula fed so that debunks one theory.
You can't believe a word that my MIL says about her kids.

Apparently DH was really colicky and basically wouldn't sleep well until he was 6 months old. I actually have no idea how I slept!

I don't know about me, but MIL said D slept like 20 hours a day for at least the first 6 months. She said people where starting to get worried because he slept so much (he'd still sleep all day and night if he could!) Her older sons were not nearly as easy though, lol.

I was an amazing sleeper apparently. My mom always talks about how my brother was a horrible colicky baby and I slept 5 hrs my first night home from the hospital. which made her a nervous wreck and she sat up all night watching me lol. But she said I was just always an excellent sleeper. My husband was also a good sleeper.
(But his sister was a horrible sleeper and her baby has always been an excellent sleeper so I don't know if it necessarily matters).

I was an amazing sleeper at first. 6-7 hour stretches every night. until 4 months, when I started waking up multiple times every night. she tried sleep training many times but it never worked! she likes to joke that my sleep still hasn't improved
I'm not sure about DH. I know he was super colicky for the first 3 months

We both slept terribly. DH was colicky until 6 months old and apparently would scream and scream and scream all night unless he was being held. I was very hyperactive and my mum actually gave up putting me to bed - she would let me run around into the early hours until I quite literally dropped, then she would carry me up to bed.

I was a terrible sleeper. My mom said she or my dad used to have to sit on the floor in my room until I fell asleep and then basically army crawl out, or I would wake up and freak out. I'm still a terrible sleeper, actually!

regarding your MIL, I have a theory that people say their kid STTN when they did it the first time and not when they did it consistently.
But anyway, my mom always says we were like 10 years old, so apparently we weren't good sleepers!

Yep. My mom told me that me and my brothers were all great sleepers who slept through the night by like 2-3 weeks old. C was the same way.

I was a great sleeper. My husband...not so much. My MIL has said all her kids were terrible sleepers. My SIL has two kids and they're both horrible sleepers. I shudder to think of what my future children will do when it comes to sleep.

My mom always says that my brothers and I all STTN by 6-8 weeks. She doesn't understand why DS doesn't. She just doesn't get it that some kids aren't good sleepers
He obviously got it from his father...MIL said that both DH and SIL didn't STTN until they were 2....god help me lol

no idea about myself, and DH's parents said they don't remember DH's first two years because he was a twin and they had an older daughter.
FIL did say that my SIL was a great sleeper and slept from 10-6 regularly. but honestly, that's not my ideal sleeping situation, so i'm okay with DD going to bed at 7:30, up at 7:30 with one MOTN wakeup.

My mom kept a great baby book. I was a great sleeper very early on. STTN within a month. I wasn't a great napper, though. (Sounds like LO.) Apparently, both DH and his sister were terrible sleepers for years.

I was a bad sleeper and dh was fair! Slept 6 hr stretches at 8 weeks which mil said was sttn for her because fil gave a bottle (ff) late and mil woke up to feed (bf) early.

Don't know about DH, but I slept through the night (6 hours at least) my first night home. My mom was super worried for a while because she couldn't keep me awake enough to eat and I lost weight for a bit. Still sleep a LOT more than the average person. Like 10 hours average if I'm not working, usually more like 12+. It kinda sucks sometimes.

I don't know about me. DH slept through the night at 3 weeks old. My MIL put cereal in his bottle.
