My mom's old neighbors had two biological kids around my age and they enjoyed the empty nest for a few years after their children went off to college. They always wanted to adopt so they adopted a little girl and boy (brother and sister) from another country....I think they were around 8 and 9 at the time? I think they are in college now!

One of my high school boyfriend's parents did. After all 4 of their kids graduated high school they adopted an adorable brother sister pair I think from Russia. They were toddlers at the time.

My FIL girlfriend adopted 2 children when she was in her 40s. She is a CEO and kept putting off having children and when she was ready, she wasn't able to have a biological child.
