My mom was 11 years old. All she remembers is getting out of school early. I'd love to know where my grandparents were, but they passed away a long time ago. My dad was only 7. I'll have to ask him where he was (if he remembers).

I also find the documentaries really interesting. Such a tragedy. I couldn't imagine being Jackie O when that happened.

My parents would have only been 2 and 3 years old, but I should ask my grandma. I'm not sure if it's an significant an event here in Canada as the US, but I certainly remember where I was when Princess Diana died and 9/11, so I'd imagine she has some distinct memory of it.

Wow - some of you have young parents!

My mom was 13 and she was at school. It was quite a bit deal to my family, given that we are Catholic and there was so much pride in the fact that he was the first Catholic president.

@Pepper: I always think about Jackie, too - how scared she must have been. I was looking through a slideshow today and they had a picture of her being at the swearing-in ceremony for LBJ. And she looked so composed. How? I can't imagine....

My parents were both in elementary school.

@littlebug: Me either! She was still wearing the same outfit she was in when it happened. Just can't even imagine.

My dad was a 3rd grader at a Catholic school in Massachusetts, so you can imagine how affected they were. He said the nuns were all sobbing and no one told them what happened. They just sent them all home. My mom was in 2nd grade (public school, also in MA) and I think she had a similar experience.

I remember on September 11th when I talked to my dad he said "this is your JFK" meaning that in my lifetime, this is the day I will remember every second of.

Man, a bunch of you are young with young parents; dang! My parents were teenagers and heard about the assassination at school.

My mom was in sophomore year geometry class. One of the nuns (Catholic school), walked into the room abruptly, said "the President is dead" in a stern voice, turned on her heel and walked out. Mom still remembers exactly what she was wearing, where she was sitting, who she was sitting next to etc. she's talked about for as long as I can remember.

I don't know where my dad was at the time but he would have been in 8th grade, so I'm guessing school!

My parents were both 3 years old. They both don't remember. I have never asked my grandparents.
