I just called a friend and her child answered the phone and it made me wonder why is it that children have higher voices than adults. Does anyone know?

I'm pretty sure it's because children have shorter vocal chords! As they lengthen through growth (and with hormones), their voices deepen.

@mole: Ah I see... so I guess the grown ups with baby voices never got their chords lengthened
