I balance my checkbook obsessively with a pen, paper register and calculator. I prefer doing this over using an app or program.

Oh yes, I check it daily! I check Mint daily, actually, so I know the balance of every single account we have. I'm a little obsessive.

No. I should be more on top of it.
I think it's really funny that you balance with a pen and paper though I just check my balance online, or I have a spreadsheet for outstanding checks (my old landlord took forever to cash them, plus wedding gifts).

I just checked online today. I have to get back into the habit of checking daily.

Yep. I updated our budget spreadsheet yesterday!

Checked it yesterday for the first time in a few months. Don't remember exactly, just a roundabout figure.

I check ours every other day so while I don't know the exact number, I know the general number!

No; I know generally how much is in there. We use our credit card to pay for everything and then pay it off at the end of the month, so except for the mortgage and student loans, nothing ever comes out of our checking until the end of the month when we pay the cc bill.

I actually don't, mostly because it's kind of hard. We make it easy by having an amount we know we can spend freely and we just try our best to spend less than that.

Yep! I had to make sure there's enough in there to cover the rest of our insurance deductible!

Nope. DH is on mint all the time so I sort of let him worry about it. That's horrible!

I know ball park. I check it every couple days on mint.com and we keep a fair amount in there so I'm never worried about covering bills, but it could have changed since yesterday.

No idea. I let DH handle the finances. He has a better idea of the cash flow, and I would just get freaked out if I took a peek without actually knowing what's going on. I prefer not to be stressed out by it.

DH usually handles the finances but I'm getting back into it. I felt lost having no idea what was going on.

@yin: same!!!looking at the balances stresses me out ern though there's plenty in there--I have this fear that one day I'll check as there will be no money!

Yep, I check my personal account online every morning and whenever I'm contemplating buying something a little more expensive.
I have do idea what DH's balance is. Not that I'm allowed to, I just let him deal with it, since it's the money for our bills. He just tells me when to go online and pay them, lol.

I know all of our account balances down to the penny. I also balance with a paper check register, pen and phone calculator
