I only do it if I'm traveling to tropical places. I'll do it two or three weeks beforehand to get a base so I don't burn. I've only traveled twice (to tropical places) in 5 years..so it definitely isn't a frequent thing.

I have to admit...if I was ever addicted to something It would probably be tanning. I find it SO relaxing! The warmth, the fans, the tropical smelling lotion, the radio...but as much as I enjoy it I just can't bring myself to do it when I know how AWFUL it is for you

I did (in high school) because I am SO PALE! Now I just use te fake stuff. Skin cancer is wayyyyy too scary.

I used to go tanning from time to time... usually before a special event or vacation, but not anymore. The last time I went was 2010 for my wedding. I'm too afraid of skin cancer to go now.

I did it twice when I was younger before trips to warm places, a few visits at 2 minutes a session. Now, I say no way. I have 2 friends who had skin cancer already at extremely young ages (under 25). My uncle also died 9 months after his metastasized melanoma was caught. It's scary and harmful to expose your skin to that much "sun." A little real sunlight exposure for some vitamin D is healthy, but nothing beyond that.

I used to tan a lot, now I just do before special occasions....maybe 3-4 times a year.

ETA: I think I've only tanned twice in the past two years, though, since I've been pregnant for the majority of them.

I have never been to a tanning salon. I tan easily during the summer months just by going swimming but easy come easy go, just as quickly the tan fades fast too.

I only did a few times for proms in HS or cheer in college…by my sophomore year I figured I'd just embrace the pale (and I am SO pale). It's just not worth it for the risk of skin cancer. Even at the beach, I slather up with sunscreen and usually have 2 different levels in my beach bag. But I'm like you, @Danizaur:, the sun makes me feel so happy!

I used to, but not anymore. DH's grandmother (who I was close to) passed away 2 weeks before our wedding. She had melanoma that spread to her lungs and brain. After that, I could never bring myself to use a tanning bed again, especially because my family has a history of skin cancer as well.

In HS I did but I haven't since. My dermatologist would shoot me if she ever caught me in one. I have had pre-cancerous moles removed so I'm extra cautious now. I do still like to lay out outside, I just lather up the sunscreen.

I did in high school before prom but not again since. DH lost a friend a couple years ago that died from a metastasized skin cancer at 29. Too scary now.
I kinda dig my ivory paleness now.

I went a few times before my wedding. I can't see doing it again - although I enjoy not looking like I constantly am sporting my winter/jaundice look.

The last time I tanned was for my wedding, about 4.5 years ago. I knew it was bad for me, but I wanted a base tan and no tan lines.

I want to keep looking young, too!

I've never done it and probably never will. I don't tan, I just burn. At the beach I usually avoid the sun and slather myself with 70SPF. If I want colour, I get an airbrush tan.

Pale is the new tan! At least that's what I tell myself.

Nope, never my dad and grandmother on my moms side both have had skin cancer so I don't want to risk it!

@kjpugs: it's actually helpful for people with keratosis pilaris, too. (The little red bumps on arms and legs).

I used to go tanning all the time in high school, and now I only will if I am going somewhere on vacation (beach vacation) sooo maybe once every 2 years
