I LOVE boy short bottoms because I swear, 9 times out of 10 I look down and see some swatch of fuzz I missed (super dark hair, super pale skin). I'm too cheap to wax so boy-short bottoms save me.
Why the heck are they so hard to find, anyways!

They are all I wear for a variety of reasons. They are super hard to find, but I was able to grab a plain black pair from Old Navy, so at least they go with a lot of tankini tops.

I have never in my bikini wearing life worn anything but boy-short bottoms! I love them, but would also love to wear a normal cut someday, but have awful, never looks nice bikini line.

Nope! I much prefer tie-side bikini bottoms! I like them on others, though.

I get mine from Academy! They usually have an assortment of colors so I'm able to easily match them to whatever tankini top I found elsewhere!

I think they make my thighs look really wide so no. I used to wear them in high school, for modesty and the above mentioned bikini line issue. Now I wear regular bikini bottoms-- not skimpy or low rider, but not boy shorts.

I feel like they should be easier to find! I'm in love with http://athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=49939&vid=1&pid=906268002 these, and just ordered a plain matching top from them... I wish they had these in plain colors, I'd buy more pairs and never wear anything else again!

They usually end up riding up my behind so I'm not fan. I hate shopping for bathing suits with a passion even though I'm a shopaholic. Bathing suits are just torture!

I hate them, they ride up and give me a wedgie, and they make my already short legs look even shorter.

Nope--I have short legs and large thighs, so boy shorts make my legs look even shorter and wider.

Yes, I have a good pair from Target--Mossimo brand. I also like 'swim minis' (really short skirts with attached bikini bottoms). They have to fit really well and not have too much fabric, or else they look matronly.

Nope, not flattering on me! I like them on others though! I prefer side ties or just something narrower on the hips.

I've always liked them, but post baby, they're a necessity. My stretch marks from my pregnancy are all on my hips, so the more they're covered, they better. That said, I've been looking for MONTHS and haven't been able to find any. I'm going to look the places you guys suggested.

I don't know how you ladies swim in side-ties! I'm so paranoid they will come off! I really just prefer anything with lots of coverage. I don't really love looking like I'm in my underwear in public.

@photojane: I have never had a tie come undone while swimming . . . although it's not like I am (scuba) diving or playing water polo in a bikini, either (I wear real one-piece or volleyball -style swim suits for that!). But believe me when I say that those suckers are tied tightly!

They cut me in a weird spot, so no, I don't care for them.
I love swim skorts though.
