What is the gift that they haven't stopped playing with? The answer to this for a girl was easy for me so I'm looking for tips for a boy gift. We have a 4 year old boy to buy a gift for.

I should add, he's still very into his Thomas trains, so he still plays with his wooden train set every day. He got a couple new trains for Christmas too.

At 4 and even now Legos. You can do Lego Junior for a 4 year old.

Legos - he does the Lego Jr. and there are also sets for 5-7 yo that he does too (Lego City I think is the theme).

Thomas trains, a Lego shuttle and wooden blocks. Got to be careful with those Thomas sets though... the standard ones are great quality, but my mom bought some knockoff that didn't even last a day.

Legos Legos Legos. We got him several different sets as well as the medium and large brick boxes of just hundreds of random pieces. He plays Legos every single day.
He also got the remote control gup K from octonauts and has loved playing with that too!
