We have a wedding we have to go to coming up. DH is a groomsmen, so I can't really skip it. I will know the bride, the groom & DH, no one else there. so not much fun for me since they'll all be busy. Most weddings I don't mind going to. I wish I could say I'm excited about this one, but I'm not, at all. I'm sure the bride felt the same way attending my wedding.
Do you enjoy going to weddings? Do you like them more or less since having your own?

I used to love it! I loved everything about weddings. Traveling to them, picking out an outfit and accessories (and a matching tie for Wagon Sr.), doing my hair and makeup, taking tons of pictures of everything, the cocktail hour food, the sit down dinner, the dance party, slow dancing with Wagon Sr., the wedding cake ... EVERYTHING! At our peak we went to 12 weddings in one calendar year, and one or both of us was in the wedding party for 5 of them.
Now that I'm an old fart with kids to worry about, I now find weddings tiresome 
I enjoy unique details that each bride and groom puts into their wedding, but everything else cookie cutter about them I am totally sick of, unfortunately. I don't even participate in the dancing anymore, which used to be my favorite part. I even find the slow dancing just unnecessary. But I will never tire of cocktail hour food 
OR wedding cake!

I LOVE weddings. So much. Sometimes I wish I were friends with people just to go to their weddings. As long as I have DH I don't worry about not having fun lol
I went to DH's friends wedding - I didn't even know the bride and groom - but i loved it haha!!

@mrs. wagon: 12 in one year! Wow! That would be expensive! I hope since there was almost nothing cookie cutter about my wedding that it was more enjoyable/interesting for guests. Ah well, they got free booze & food for 8 hours (yes, we had an 8 hour wedding!)
@Coco Bee: I think it'd be less weird to be totally alone rather than just DH who will be busy. I've only been to one wedding alone, I was single at the time, and I had the best time! If I were single, I'd go to every wedding I could!

@Mrs. Cowgirl: our wave of weddings is FINALLY dying down... we've only been to one so far this year! let's just go to each others' friends weddings. You feel me on the cocktail hour food and cake though, right? Of course you do... I know you do.
@mrs. bird: yes, it gets super expensive one of the weddings was for one of my close college friends, but it was in Hawaii and we just couldn't afford it. It was sad but of course they understood. And yes, anything that's not cookie cutter is so enjoyable for guests like me. Back in the day I loved the cookie cutter parts... but now I'm always looking for the unique pieces that show the couple's personality and thoughtfulness!

@Mrs. Cowgirl: that new phenomenon has been quite fun!! In the wedding I was in this year, we got to take home a bunch of the photobooth props and now Wagon Jr. has a big collection of dress-up stuff. Hats, glasses, beads, etc. Haha.

i used to love it too...it was something new, i got to dress up and do my hair and makeup, and then party. now i've been to so many that they've lost their special-ness and i guess i've also become just an old fart too!

I haven't been to too many in my life (maybe 5 tops) and never been a bridesmaid, so I still love them and can't wait to be a bridesmaid someday!

I love weddings, but when it came times for ours, I really didn't want anything traditional. So weird that I love that for other people, but not for us. I think it's fun to just watch the happy party unfold.

I am a wedding planner. Besides going to weddings I have planned, we have at least one wedding every month we have to go to. Honestly, a lot of times, they one's I didn't plan, make me cringe. I like going, but when things go against etiquette, become a mess, or run late, I want to fix it. I have a hard time just being a guest.

I wish I could just go for the ceremony and cocktails and call it done. I really don't get the point of the dancing, it's the same at every wedding.
In general, I agree 100% with Mrs. Wagon.

my in laws were 2 hours late, the DOC showed up so late my dad kicked him out, it rained so we couldn't have our outdoor ceremony, the dress I bought 3 days before the wedding (seamstress trashed my dress & I had to buy a new one off the rack) got covered in mud during the reception, they lost the ring bearer's birds nest & didn't take the tag off his suit sleeve, the jr bridesmaids refused to take part in the pictures and snuck fuzzy slippers on before their entrance into the reception. I could go on, but I don't want to give you heart palpitations this early:D It was still perfect!

no, I don't love it.
I enjoy more spontaneous outings, more relaxed settings - even if they are dressed up. I love dressing up. I guess I just dislike the schedule and timing of every last detail. A lot of them just seem so .. forced? And that makes me uncomfortable.
@mrs. bird: sounds like I would've LOVED your wedding! I think it's the unexpected that makes things fun

LOVE for the most part. I've been to a couple weddings as a date where I didn't know anyone... so that wasn't as fun.

I enjoy weddings if I know people there, I'm like you and hate when there is no one you know to socialize with, especially if DH is in the wedding.
Toward the end of summer I do get burned out if we have attended quite a few, but luckily this year things slowed down. The first couple years of dating we had at least 12 weddings a summer, it was not fun toward the end!

I do love weddings, althought after spending so much time planning my wedding i cant help but secretly criticize things in my head and immediately notice things that are wrong, which is so bad, its taken all the fun out of it

I'm a wedding photographer, so it's literally my job to go to weddings... I can't even remember the last time I've been a real guest! I might feel a little snubbed if they didn't want to hire me to be there anyway, ha!

I love weddings! We have had to skip a lot lately due to DD which is absolutely okay with me, but when we can go I love them! It makes me want to plan a vow renewal so badly!

I love them...as long as I get to go with my husband! We usually have a great time dancing (not that well), if there's good music and a crowd on the dance floor. Our invites have definitely slowed down, though, and babies are more common among our friends, but we have two on the calendar: one we're still debating because it means taking at least a day off and an expensive weekend, and the other I'm a bridesmaid, so we're psyched and definitely going. I'm still hoping we can get to both...although I've never been to a wedding pregnant before!

@Mrsbells: I do it too! I loved watching four weddings while planning my wedding and in my head I pretended to be on it when I went to weddings once I went to a wedding where I had to pay for water during the 2 hour cocktail hour, that was at the bottom of my wedding list!
