My mom only let me eat plain cake when I was younger but now I LOVE frosting and icing so much.
I feel sad when I see unfrosted cupcakes or plain cake..

People actually serve unfrosted cupcakes?? Frosting belongs on cake!

I love frosting, it's my favorite part. I usually eat DH's too :D. Is there a different between frosting and icing? I would use the terms interchangeably.

@ShootingStar: I think of frosting as soft textured and icing as something that I pour on a cake that hardens... I could be totally wrong!

@ShootingStar: Frosting is thicker (like buttercream, for example) . . . Icing is thin layer, more like a glaze.
ETA: and what @Autumnlove: said!

Yes, it is the best part! DH doesn't like frosting very much, so he always gives me his

If it's whipped frosting - omg! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
Otherwise, a lil is good.

It depends what kind of frosting! Store bought frosting - never ever. But a really good homemade, whipped kind? Yes!!

@Alivoo01: @coopsmama: I try not to *limit* myself in that regard and keep an open mind . . . never want to preclude the opportunity to discovery another really good frosting!

@Leialou: You can sit between @Smurfette: and myself anytime there's cake involved.

Yes! Hmm this reminds me, I have some leftover buttercream, AND chocolate buttercream in the fridge.

@MsLipGloss: Haha! That's a great point, every frosting is worth at least a TRY!

@whenoceansrise: We've got a spot for you right next to @Leialou: !

@MsLipGloss: I'll probably get lots of gasps on this, but I don't like cream cheese so that eliminates a lot of frostings for me. I know, I know, I know. DH is a huge fan of cream cheese, and he always shakes his head at me. lol

I'd be happy to skip the cake and just have frosting! When I was in college, I used to keep a tub of it in my dorm room mini fridge for when I needed a study break sugar rush. Now I've graduated to making my own (espresso buttercream, mmmmm) to spread on graham crackers. Excuse me while I go get out the KitchenAid....

Nope, I think commercial icing and frosting is Gross, with a capital G.
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@Alivoo01: Awww, and lol! *confession* I can't eat a thick layer of cream cheese frosting. I love love love frosting, but some things I have to have in moderation (strawberry frosting is an exception here!) I totally forgive you not liking cream cheese frosting . . . my DH, on the other hand, LOVES ice cream cake. Which, I get, but I would rather have a little ice cream with my frosting and cake! I totally smh at him for that.

Unfrosted cupcake is a muffin (albeit an unhealthy one) to me! There's gotta be frosting, and I prefer that it's chocolate!

I like a good ratio...I like a schmear on my cupcakes, basically. I don't like those big towers of frosting.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
I love whipped cream icing/cool whip the most! I'm not a fan of the grainy-type icing.

@lawbee11: I have been known to dump a bunch of berries directly into a container of CW. And then just put the lid back on it like *what-comeatmebrah*.

I love frosting! I really love homemade frosting, but store bought will do in a pinch.
papaya / 10473 posts
I like it, but I'm really picky about what kind. Whipped cream cheese, whipped cream, and homemade buttercream? YES.
Confession: My friend is a baker by trade, and she texts me when she has leftover frosting - she makes a buttercream/marshmallow hybrid type. Annnnnnd I eat it straight out of the piping bag with a spoon
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@grizz: That's just efficient. Only modification you might consider is leaving the tip in the bag and just piping it into your mouth!
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@MsLipGloss: M's birthday cake is going to be lemon cake with strawberry filling (real strawberries) and whipped cream frosting. I'm already dreaming about it
GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts
@grizz: and what a lovely/creative spin to put on *just the tip* jokes!
