For a girl: Coco
I always thought of it as a nn. Then I heard a little girl with it and it grew on me. I think it's cute!
I don't know if I feel it is professional enough for adulthood though... not sure... how about you?

I always think about how names will appear on resumes to future employers, so I think as a nickname, it's cute, but not as the full name.

Isn't that Courtney Cox and David Arquette's daughters name? I see it more as a nickname, not really a fan of it as a regular name. I don't think it'd pass my resume/judge test.

@Adira: @Mrs. High Heels: that's exactly what I was thinking - resume test!
@loveisstrange: @Sweet T: any ideas what a full name for Coco would be?

I could see something like Constance, or two names with a Co Co in the beginning, which is where I think Courtney Cox got Coco from.

I knew a girl when I was little with that name, and it always worked for her, especially with her last name. Otherwise, I don't think I would like it.

I think she would spend a lifetime explaining it is not sorry for something though.

I think as a nn it's cute but not as a full name. I know someone who named her kid Jericho and everyone calls her Coco. I think it's cute.

@Mrs. Pen: But then again, Coco Chanel has the first name Coco! What about names like Colette, Colleen, Cosette, Corinne, Cordelia that can be turned into Coco as a nn?

All I can think of is Ice-T's wife, Coco. Not at all professional!

Coco sounds really cute IMO, but I can see it not doing that well on the resume test. I named out cat Coco a long time ago!
Our niece is nn Coco, real name: Cody. I like Cosette and Colette names @Mrs. High Heels: posted!

Full name options (in sticking with the french sound) might be Nicole, Nicolette, Colette or Cosette. You could also double up the "Co" sound in her first and middle example Courtney Colette nn: CoCo

@Mrs. High Heels: @looch: I also think of Coco Chanel when I hear the name! But I assumed, as looch confirmed, that it wasn't her given name.

I have a friend whose daughter is Coco- I had the same thoughts re. adulthood!

i don't love it or hate it, def think of courtney cox's daughter. not ice t's wife.

@shopaholic: Haha, my dog is also named Coco.
@looch: @Mrs. Pen: I thought it might not be her real name, but that's what she goes by and what came to mind!

@Mrs. Pen: I think you could use it as a nn for pretty much any name starting with C. I think we could legit call C that, if we wanted.

@Mrs. High Heels:
Exactly! My cat was named Coco - with Coco Chanel in mind. That's really the name she was known by! It never even crossed my mind about Ice T's wife.

@Mrs. Pen: Cordelia comes to mind first. I think it's sweet.
Colleen, Colette, Courtney, Chloe, and Nicole all come to mind. I went to school with a girl named Kori and Coco (Koko?) was one of her nicknames.

Cute as a nn! We use it occasionally for LO!

I like it as a nick name! On RHOC Heather has a daughter named Colette that they call Coco! So cute.

I know a few babies named Coco. I don't love it. I think it's an okay nn but I would rather give my child a distinguished full name that future employers can take seriously.

We were going to use Coco as a nickname for Colette if we had a girl! But we ended up having an Owen instead

I voted as a nn yes, but rethinking I don't know. It sounds like a pet's name.
pear / 1787 posts
I really don't like it, but I also happened to know a Coco in high school that I couldn't stand, so I'm biased. I think it's better as a nickname than someone's whole name.

@Mrs. Pen: I don't think of Ice-T's wife first when I think of Coco but I probably will now! I think of Courteney Cox and her daughter Coco. My sister's nickname is Coco, it's what LO will call her.

Yes as a nickname. No as a full name. As for getting to it, one of my fave name blog had a write up for just that question: http://appellationmountain.net/fetching-names-getting-to-coco/

I think of it as a nickname not a fullname, but I think it's a cute nickname!

I like it as a nickname, and as a full name for a celebrity kid, it's OK (see: Courtney Cox's daughter and Tony Kanal's daughter [bassist from No Doubt, Gwen Stefani's one true love]), only because they don't really have to worry about having a normal adult working job. LOL.

I LOVE it. I tried so hard to use it. DH was NOT on board with it as a full name (although I was fine with it!), and I couldn't find a name for it to be a nick name for.
coconut / 8305 posts
I think it's a great nn! My friend Nicole had this has her nn... It's cute, girly, & fun... Definitely not a good adult full name though.
