I grew up in LA but have lived in New York for the past 11 years! So I'm on the complete opposite coast. I would say that most of the people I grew up with are still in the LA area.
What about you?

My family tends to scatter but all come back to the same spot. Currently we are all in the same town we grew up in. It's a cool thing too because my great grandparents met in this town in the 1930s randomly (she for school, he for thr railroad ) and somehow all our family migrated there.

Nope, I moved to Seattle about 6 years ago for a job. Most of my friends and family are still in the Philadelphia area.

yep I've lived in the same suburb for 30 years now. For the first 2 years we lived inner city, but like classic migrants my parents moved out to the 'burbs so they could have a nice veggie patch

I'm just over an hour away, so pretty close! Most of our family is still there so it's nice not being too far.

I did up until 2012. My hometown is pretty sad now and I will never go back. Only my in-laws live there and they are actively looking for a house in a different city.

Nope- I'm about 5 hours from there. My parents still live in the same house. Most of my siblings are within an hour of them. It would be nice to be closer but I don't actually want to live there, just want less distance between me and them.

Yes. I lived in a couple different cities within our county growing up, and I am only 20-30 minutes away from all of them.

I'm about 75 miles from home, about 1.5 hours if no bad traffic. Soon I'll be about 20 from home. Right now it's important to us to be near family.

Not even close! I grew up in Southern California and now live in Louisiana.

Nope, but I am the closest I have been since growing up. We used to live on the opposite coast but now we live about 2.5 hours from where I was raised.

Yes! I've never moved away. I will always live in my hometown I think!

Yup, I'm one town over!
I did live in New York after I graduated high school for one year, and I loved it- but missed my family. I sometimes think about going back though!

I live about a 4 hour car ride from where I grew up. I grew up in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, and I made the move to the large city about 10 years ago. I like it much better where I live now!

Yes! It was unintentional though. If I had my choice, I'd be out of here in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, it's not that easy and it'll probably be years before we actually make a move.

Not even close. I grew up in SD, I now live in Sweden. It's like another world.

Nope, I grew up in western Canada (moved to a few different places), and then I moved to Toronto for school (where I am now). My family is all here now though (my parents grew up here) except my brother who's still out west.

Nope! Grew up in TN, spent 10 years in NYC and now we are in Philadelphia.

I live a 10 minute drive from my childhood home in Pittsburgh! After school I moved to NYC, which is where I met my husband. After my mom died unexpectedly, we moved back to PGH in order to help/be with my dad and little brother. DH and I both ended up with good jobs here and the housing market is great, so we're still here 5 years later. Some days Pittsburgh still feels too small for me, but it's generally a great city.

Yep, 20 min drive, my office is actually in the town I grew up!
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Well I grew up in a town and DH grew up in a very small town. Right now we live in the nearest city that is 20 minutes away from both places, but we would like to move back there in a couple years.
