I NEVER am able to do this. It drives me crazy! I get so sick of my staples, but then I try something new and it comes out disgusting and I have to throw the whole thing out. Roar!

Hardly ever! I don't read the recipe closely enough ahead of time, or prepare all my ingredients enough, and then I scramble while cooing and make a ton of mistakes. I'm working on this...

I have mixed success--sometimes, like you, it reminds me why i stick with my staples.
I thought you meant whether I make a recipe "right", as in do what the directions say, the first time I make it before I start to mess with it. This is an ongoing minor argument between DH and I--I think you should make it once to see how it is before you start to mess with it!
