I've never made homemade popcorn before, but I have had it at other peoples houses (many years ago), and it tastes so much better than microwaved.
Do you make homemade popcorn? If so, how? Do you need a special popcorn maker or can you do it another way? I'd like to make some but need to go buy whatever I need at the store this weekend.

I just make mine in a pot, using this recipe:

It turns out pretty good.
And get some smoked paprika. That stuff is deadly on popcorn (and a million other foods go amazing with it too!)

Air popper it's soooo good! We do butter and garlic salt or sometimes add cayenne pepper or lime juice

Same as @Urchin. It works really well! You can also add some butter to the pan when you add the larger amount of kernels (cut in small pieces if it's cold so it melts more quickly). It'll coat the popcorn as it pops! I prefer this to putting it on afterward because you don't get the soggy pieces from pouring on the butter after they're popped.

Popcorn is my favourite food ever, I probably make it 4 days a week! I make it on the stove using this:
I have an air popper as well, but actually prefer the WhirlyPop.

I just do 1 tbs of oil and 1/4 cup of popcorn on the stove. Works like a charm every time! I like to season with parmesan cheese.

Yep. In a pot with 2 tablespoons of popcorn oil, 1/2 cup kernels and salt and pepper once it's popped. Yumm!

I have a popcorn cooker. It's a bucket with a stirrer that mixes the kernels and oil over a burner. I asked for it last birthday.

@Bao: you just want something with a high smoke point so it doesn't set off your smoke detectors!

We just use a big pot. 1 tbspn oil (we just use EVOO even though it is not high smoke, never had an issue bc we don't use a ton) in the bottom. 1/4 cup corn kernels. Med-high heat. Cover and when it starts popping shake it around until it stops popping. Top as you choose 
ETA: We pop our own corn bc I'm scared of chemicals. Lots of studies have shown that micro popcorn is dangerous to your health, both the fumes and also eating it. Plus it tastes better, honestly.
