The kitchen towel idea is cute. One year we got infused olive oil and vinegar in cute bottles. They found decorative bottles at Michaels and TJ Maxx, filled them with different things-I got garlic and rosemary infused olive oil and some garlic and lemon vengar. They sealed the top with wax.

This year we are doing NYC Gift baskets for family, and for friends we are doing infused vodkas.

Ive also seen friends make homemade vanilla extract and vanilla sugar and stuff like that.

Just some ideas.

Yep my family is big on homemade. Do you sew? (If not, I will not suggest any sewing presents )

Other homemade, non-sewing gifts I've given or received:
beef jerky (YUM!)
dried/ground red peppers
sundried tomatoes
dehydrated fruit/granola mixes
'craft kits' for kids (i.e. all the supplies & instructions for a type of bracelet
clay or dough ornaments
a snapfish/shutterfly book of "art" by kids or a story they wrote/illustrated
popcorn spice mixes
decorated flower pots with indoor plants or herbs
fridge magnets (google/pinterest for bottlecap magnets, marble magnets)
Kids drawing on hand towels & then adults embroidering over the designs/art to make it more permanent

Baby boy's due on the 23rd of December so I'll probably order gifts way in advance and have everything shipped by the first week of december.
May bake cookies though!

@mrskc: I am doing some homemade luminaries for a family gift, it looks pretty easy!

I am also doing a hot chooclate basket, with cocoa, homemade Bailey's and some other treats. I hope they will turn out cute.
