I never used to but about a year ago there were budget cuts and now there is a fee to request physical books but not e books.

Nope! I'd have to add library fees as a budget item if they did that to us! I'm always requesting books....

Requests as in the staff pulling the book and holding it or bringing it to one branch from another branch for you? Or as in, the library doesn't own a copy of the book you want so you're asking them to buy one? We have no fee for the former, but I have no idea about the latter.

@locavore_mama: Yikes! I can sort of understand having a small fee for acquisitions, but it seems like placing holds should just be part of regular library business!

@PurplePeony: they went through a huge budget cut last year. Many branches were closed down.

@locavore_mama: I know that I actually am charged if I request something but then don't pick it up in the allotted time.

We get charged if we request a book and then never go get it.
