I love B&Bs! You definitely have to do your research ahead of time, but it can be well worth it... I'm a lifelong fan.
Do you prefer hotels or B&Bs?

Hotels. I don't like being in such an intimate environment with strangers. But then again, DH and I have only stayed in one and the innkeeper insisted we were smoking pot in our room. In reality, I was trying not to puke everywhere from morning sickness and DH was watching House Hunters. Maybe the bad experience has ruined us.

I like both, depending on the type of vacation. B&B is great for a romantic weekend, exploring a smaller town, and for mountain getaways, but for larger cities and beach vacations I like hotels and resorts due to location and amenities like pools and restaurants and spas!

I like B&Bs, but you have to make sure you do your research! I've ended up in some really strange ones or ones where the "breakfast" is a store-bought muffin and a banana in the room.

Hotels. I've been to quite a few B&Bs and had both good and bad experiences. Nothing terrible happened on our last trip, but it the room was loud/uncomfortable and the experience was super awkward. I don't think we will be headed to one again any time in the future.

I looooved the B&B's we stayed in overseas with my family. My husband hates small talk with strangers, though so they are not an option for us.

hotels usually, I don't like having to make small talk with the other guests

I've never stayed in a B&B because the whole concept of them creeps me out. I don't like the idea of chatting with strangers, or having to be up for breakfast at a certain time with the innkeeper. And most especially, if we are looking for a romantic weekend away I don't want to feel like I have worry about squeaky beds or the like because I know I'll be sharing quiche with the couple next door the next morning. We're not hanging from chandeliers or anything, but I still greatly prefer the anonymity of a hotel.

Hotels! I love a good B&B, but my husband isn't a fan. He doesn't like breakfast food (the horror) and he certainly doesn't like making small talk with strangers.
