I love living in the city! I love that any kind of food imaginable is usually within walking distance. I also like being central to all kinds of activities and establishments. I also love that LO will be exposed to so much culture and diversity. It's funny though, because my entire family lives in the country and HATES the city.

City. I know I'm crazy, but being surrounded by mountains makes me feel claustrophobic or trapped, somehow.

I moved to the burbs from the city when DH and I got married. I still *love* our city, but our particular city isn't safe or practical to live in with a LO. We will live in the city again when our kids are grown though!

Country! I love having lots of space and fresh air. I like to be within a reasonable driving distance to the city. I currently live in the suburbs.

I grew up in the city and live in the country now. I love it out here! However with kids it is becoming more and more inconvenient

City! Love the convenience, amenities and diversity. Plus, I've watched enough horror flicks to know that bad things always seem to happen out in the big old house in the country! 
We're city folk, though we live in the 'burbs now.

I adore good beach towns and would move to one ASAP if I could. I think actually living on the beach would be magical. The only problem would be I'd never get anything done. I also love small mountain towns, but don't actually know if I could handle the driving every day. It makes me queasy and I hate that it takes forever to get anywhere because you have to drive around them.

Cities might be fun for a day or a weekend, but to live there, the anxiety and claustrophobia would drive me nuts, so yes, please, give me the country where you can watch the sun rise and set in all of its glory!

City, for now. I hate driving and love having everything I need walking distance from me, including interesting restaurants.
But eventually the pluses of the suburbs will outweigh city living though- better schools, bigger homes and a yard. So suburbs are probably in our future in the next 3-6 years.

With a child I prefer the 'burbs because of the trails, parks, schools, more house for your money, etc. If we were child-free I'd want to be in the city!

Country, country, country!! I could happily live seeing no one except my own family unless I choose to. I live in the country but would love to live even further out. If I didn't have to see a neighbor's house in any direction, that would be ideal

Burbs for us! I need space (house and land) but I need access to at least one mid-sized city for fun stuff and culture, and a short commute. So cliche but it's for a reason! Convenience and comfort

@lawbee11: @.twist.: I live in the city but more on the outskirts. We have a single family home, big yard, neighborhood feel, and it is still pretty walkable. Best of both worlds!
Well, except for schools. They still suck.

I prefer a small city--things still walkable and with lots of options for food and cultural stuff to do, and small, local businesses rather than just chain stores. But with lots of green space and yards. The town I grew up in was like that! It wasn't burbs bc it wasn't adjacent to a big city, but nothing like NYC, where I live now, either

I"m a city girl, but DH loves the country. In our ideal world, we'd end up in a small city, I think, where we could walk everywhere but not feel claustrophobic. Bonus points if it's near great nature, like a mountain, a river or lake!

I voted for "country", but it's more like "small rural town close enough to a city". Both my husband and I grew up in country areas that were fairly close to small towns and within half an hour of small cities, and that's absolutely perfect for both of us. I love the space, quiet, open air, places to explore of the country, as well as the neighborly, close-knit feeling you get in a small town. We live about half an hour from Columbus now and for me that's the absolute perfect distance, and a good-sized city to live near--not too big, but big enough to have all the culture, food, experiences, etc. that our small town/country existence sometimes lacks

We live in first ring burbs. So, we're around 5-10 minutes from "downtown", but we still have a huge house that's affordable, a yard, a double driveway, etc
It's a huge plus with a 65 lb dog that loves to run!
