I prefer traditional spellings. Kevin instead of Kevyn. Erin instead of Airin, etc.

Just depends on the name. My name is more masculine, but switching the I for a Y gives it a feminine touch.

Traditional for sure! I'm not a fan of substituting y's and i's for the traditional vowel.

Traditional!!! Oddly spelled names are one of my biggest pet peeves. Why make your child spell their name for people for their whole life?! Also... Spelling the kid's name in a weird way does not make it any more unique!

@lovelife: haha when I quickly read this I immediately imagined "lovelyfe... that IS more masculine" ;D

@MamaMoose: I agree with this.. even having to say "Christina with a CH" has been annoying my entire life. Kristina, Cristina, Christina...

@JoJoGirl: Haahahah, I'm thinkin' the same thing. My name is Erin and I'm trying to picture what my business cards would look like if it was spelled "Airin..."
I knew an Erin one time who added an extra N on her name: Erinn. Hmm.

Definitely traditional. I've complained before about my daughter's very traditional spelling of her name and later finding out there are 18,000 ways to spell it because people have to be creative. GAH!

@ms.janedoe: I have seen it spelled Aerin which I like but my favorite is still Erin!

Tradytionayle <--- that looks as wrong to me as the creatively spelled first names. Lol I also agree, it's easier in life when you have a traditional spelling.

If you pick a traditional name I feeling you should spell it traditionally. It causes a lot of headaches when you get creative with spellings. If you wanna be creative, pick a creative name & spell it however you want since most people won't know how to spell it to begin with.

@ms.janedoe: I know an Aarin and I always think of the female form of the Hebrew name Aaron not the Irish name Erin...? who knows, hehe
