I'm talking birthday parties where the parents come and stay because the kids are still young enough to need mom and dad there. The alcohol is for the parents (of course).
Last year we had beer and I think we are going to have it again this year. We recently went to a birthday party (backyard like ours is) where they provided beer and sangria. 
Would you provide alcohol at your child's birthday party?

Nope. Our parties are usually at 11:00, so I feel like alcohol at that time might be weird. Plus one of our parents is a recovering alcoholic, so... nope!

Yep. Morning or afternoon or evening...wine/beer is there! I have not done/would not do hard alcohol though...

We won't provide it but I don't think we'd tell people not to bring their own (beer). I don't drink at all and DH rarely does, and we live in a very conservative area where many people don't drink for religious reasons, so it's just not the norm for us.

We did at her first birthday party because it was at our house. I don't think we would if it was at an outside venue (like her second birthday party was at a gymnastics place and we didn't).

Yes, at our house. We had my son's 3rd birthday at My Gym, so there was no alcohol there!

We didn't for her gymnastics (friend) party since I don't think they would have allowed it. But the family/home party, of course!

For his first bday we had mimosas! It was a morning party. His second was just a small play date and half the moms were pregnant (no dads) so I didn't provide any.

Absolutely! Though at DD's first birthday it was just available for people to purchase from the venue, we didn't provide it.

I haven't had a party for LO yet, but most definitely if it is at our house. He's so young, the party is mostly for the grownups at this point.

No - but it's because most family members on either side don't drink and would be uncomfortable. If we were having a friends only party without our relatives, definitely!

Although we are going to a 4 year old birthday on Saturday evening, it's a BBQ and with this family I could see hard alcohol being there (the mom only drinks vodka) and it wouldn't seem weird to me.

I didn't vote because we've done both-- I think it depends. For lo's first bday, it was at our home in the afternoon and we def had alcohol (beer, wine, and cocktails). For her 2nd, we actually had 2 parties: am with lo's friends and parents with no alcohol at a venue, but a 2nd party late afternoon in our home without other kids-- it was for dh and I really as a celebration of our parenting (and to invite our childless friends who we didn't invite to the play gym where lo's "real" party was) so we had alcohol
Eta for the parties we've had at home, we serve a mocktail with liquor on the side that people add themselves

No. We had 1 party at our house and a family member drank wine that we already had, but we didn't buy it for the party.

We only had DD's 1st birthday party so far, and didn't serve any alcohol. It was from 11-2 and mostly families.

We have, but so far the birthday parties have been all our friends and their kids. Once it's their friends and their parents probably not (although with winter birthdays it's probably a moo point because we likely won't be having them at home.)

Totally if it was at our house or a venue where we were providing food! Most of our friends would at least grab a wine or beer and I think it makes for a more relaxed atmosphere.

@agold: This. I don't think DH would throw (or go to) a party for kids if he couldn't have a beer or a glass of wine to cope with the chaos.

Normally we do not provide alcohol. Last month at my LO's birthday party my FIL bought a case of beer since his friend attended. The men were in the backyard drinking and having a good time. I didn't mind.

Yup. Champagne at LO's first birthday (it's a celebration!) and we had beer/wine available at her second and third. Will do the same for her 4th as well next month.
Most of the kids' parties we've been to served booze of some kind - mimosas if in the AM or a brunch, beer/wine otherwise

We will probably serve it at the parties we host at home. I don't drink beer, so there would have to be some kind of spiked punch. My SMIL makes a great Sangria.

@PinkElephant: I think the same about my husband! I actually don't even know why husbands go to little kid parties unless it was also a party for the adults. If it was some place like a gymnastics party at a gymnastics gym, my husband wouldn't attend. My niece had one there and he didn't go. No dads did. Not even my niece's own dad.
