We live in an area where it is more economical to own than to rent. We own our single-family house.

Renting...I was hoping we would buy soon, but DH and my dad had to knock some sense into me in that you don't lose money by renting a house. Boo...because I'm over renting and our house is really small! (1200 sq feetish)

Our last two homes were apartments and we rented. Our next home will be military owned so I guess it's more of a rent situation there too.

We rent now, but plan to buy in a year or so. I don't mind renting, we don't have to worry about maintenance and if something breaks I call the management company. It was a lifesaver that first year after our son was born, esp. when the washing machine needed to be replaced.
