@Mrs. Sunshine: haha yes I have thought that. I'm a bit over half way through and it is a super depressing concept. I'm choosing not to google to find out how true the math is

@Bao: Yeah, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I start a book and am not really that into it so I'll start another one and then trade back and forth depending on what I'm interested in. I'm reading Americanah and Life After Life right now. It can't be books that have a lot of characters or a bunch of different plot twists, though.

@mrsjazz: how is Life After Life so far?

I read Life After Life and really liked it. It took me a little while to get into it because the premise is unusual, but once it got going, it was really good.

I don't set goals per se, but I do try to keep my reading diet fairly balanced. I try to read at least one thing to expand my knowledge base for every "fun" read. It's not nearly as tit-for-tat or organized as it sounds, but that's typically my ratio. Mostly because I will have at least two books going at any given time for the most part; one non-fiction, and one fiction. I also tend to go on kicks with my non-fiction; so three books in a row about primatology, or archaeology, or what have you.

I want to this year, so I am planning on finishing a couple of books I have lingering around.

The thing is that I actually do have the time (I have 4 hours a week of train commute time that I can dedicate to reading) and right now, I am futzing that time away.

@mrsbookworm: that's a great list, thanks for sharing! I am embarrassed to report I have only read 10 of those New Classics and I read all the time! I'm going to have to read some more!

I'm in a book club so I already read 12 a year for that plus I read another book of my own choosing each month. I used to read way more before LO arrived but right now I'd say my goal is 25 a year. I'm going to keep track this year!
