I have a Bissell Little Green Machine for spots but I want something for bigger jobs.

Yes..though I can't remember the name of the one we have. I can look it up when I get home though. It's a godsend. We love it, and use it probably 4 times a year? It was around $100 too...definitely worth it's weight in gold if you ask us.

Yeah, we have a steam cleaner. I can't remember the brand but we did our research on consumer reports at the time to find the best brand / value and that's the one we got. It works great.

yeah, I have the bissell pro heat 2x thing. i'm really lazy about cleaning the carpets..mainly just when there's a big stain or something, cause I hateeee moving everything and then waiting for it to dry!
I do love it though.

@autumnlove: like a cleaner or just a steamer?
We have a Bissell heated cleaner and a shark steam mop that comes with a attachment for steam mopping carpets.

Yeah, with a Hoover Quick and Light. It works, unless there are spots, which I have now. I'm going to rip it up soon b/c of that.

We used to. My dad rents out industrial machines at his company, so we used to borrow it!
Now that we have hardwood we don't have to.. But I need a handheld to do our couch!

Nope, I borrowed my mom's for a little bit, but I just pay to have our carpets cleaned every 9 months. I was talking to the company that comes in and he said you really shouldn't clean your carpets more than every 9-12 months because it completely wears them down, and destroys them. He said the best thing to do is just keep up on vacuuming and spot cleaning!

@locavore_mama: I guess a home steam machine?
@MrsBrewer: Good to know! I vacuum like crazy!

@babyjmama: We have the bissel pro pet vacuum too! And we LOVE It. Just did the whole front room.
Do you have the lift-off version that you can kind of use like a little green machine?

@HolisticMama: no?! I wish! Although we do have a little green too lol...I'm obsessed with clean carpet!

@babyjmama: the Little Green was a great gift from my FIL in 2010! do you use it on your couch?
grapefruit / 4136 posts
@autumnlove: yes! We usually have a blanket on the couches at all times because of the dogs but somehow they still end up smelling like dog. *sigh...

@autumnlove: Where don't we use our little green? LOL.
With one dog, three cats and a hopeful future baby...having a carpet cleaner, regardless of size, seems like a must.

@HolisticMama: I steamed the area closest to our doggy door...gross!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@HolisticMama: I agree!!! LO has spilled food. The dog has had accidents in the house post baby. And don't even ask about the accident we've had from our 6 & 4 year old niece being here this week. Without the Bissell we would've had to shell out a few hundred for a pro.
Although because there's been numerous accidents from the dog we do plan to bring in a pro after the holidays. The Bissell is good for emergencies but we want some pro equipment.

@MrsBrewer: that made me feel better about my laziness in cleaning the rugs! lol!

We have a bissell one - pro-heat or something? I try to do the carpets whenever they start to look nasty and it makes them look so much better (and the water is so gross). I really want to get a little green one (since ours is an older model and doesn't lift off for small jobs). Sometimes it just seems like such a pain to do the whole vacuum for just a small spot so I end up spot treating and then waiting until I want to do the whole carpet.
